Thread: another 'precognition dream' (yeah, i know...)

I find it hard to believe that people who share a strong emotional bond don't have some sort of strange transcendent connection. Things like this always happen with members of my family--especially on my mother's side. (My mother is from Lappland in northern Sweden, where there is supposedly a culture of "magic"/shamanism, so it could all be imagined...)

I completely agree with this statement. I also share a kind of psychic connection with my mom, who I'm really close to (even though she lives in Alabama and I live in Michigan). My mom's side of the family also has members who have been proven to have some, for a lack of a better word, psychic ability. I hate using the word psychic because people relate that to old, mystical women who carry around crystal balls. I just don't know a better descriptive term to use for this phenomenon.

thanks for the replies. i agree with both of you. i always thought spiritual/telepathic/whatever connections were likely before, but this experience pretty well convinced me.

interestingly, my mom's side has a history of 'psychic powers' as well. my grandma was a self-professed witch for a number of years in her twenties. however she had an accident and was one of the first people to be subjected to electroshock therapy, which messed her up. she's dead now, and nobody speaks much of her, especially her occultic tendencies.

and my mom has mentioned that when she was an older child, she had a friend, and they could read each others minds. for instance, one would think of any animal in the world, and the other would guess it easily. many times in a row.

she says she purposely inhibited and renounced any such gifting when she became older, and a christian. it obviously scares her, so she never developed it..
oddly, i have always felt a spiritual connection with my mom's side of the family.

it makes one wonder if genetics has something to do with it..

Or perhaps it has to do with the mother-child bond.

It may be combination of both. I do think these type of "abilities" are genetic, but there's also something to be said for the closeness forged between mother and child. I guess we'll never know... *sigh*

yeah, i think a combination of the two is likely as well. i had recently started looking into neurocardiology, and found it interesting to notice that a certain 'entrainment' happens between the physical vibrations (in the scientific sense) between a mother and child when they are near. it is interesting that mothers who breastfeed usually spend greater periods of time in a position where the mother and child's heart are near each other. the mother's heart is the 'model' so to speak, of the child's development.

out of curiousity mongel and burns, did your mother breastfeed you for a natural length of time, as opposed to bottle feeding?

I was never bottle-fed, as far as I know.

Yes, I was breast-fed for the normal amount of time (which I'm not even sure what the normal amount of time is for humans!)

I think if there is (for lack of a better word) such things as psychic abilites, that all humans are capable of using them to a greater or less degree, but are certainly all capable.

Man...I've had wierd things happen in my life that I could associate with psychic... but nothing I could replicate,
