This theory that mental state is the answer to everything is insulting to people experiencing all types of tragedy. Suffering is not always avoidable, no matter what your perspective is. For example, would you approach a family who just lost someone to a terminal disease and say "Too bad they didn't believe they were going to live, or they would have been fine." Some diseases are just incurable, no matter what your perspective is. I know your trying to be helpful, but this form of optimism is ignorant and unrealistic.
