Thread: Possible to achieve total invisibilty?

Having a suit that doesn't reflect light wouldn't make it invisible, because if it still absorbs light, it will block light sources from behind it and so you'll still be able to see it. If you could make a suit that allows light to pass through it freely without being reflected or absorbed, that would be amazing, but the person wearing it would still be visible (though you wouldn't be able to tell he/she has a suit on).

Man, I gotta tell you about this one development that happened in Jan of 2003 in Tokyo. This Electrical Engineering grad student developed this invisibility material...no bullshit. I read about it and then saw a video clip of it on CNN.

He put the material around a basketball at first. Then, he later made a vest out of it and showed it to everyone. You could see right through him and the basketball. The main problem was that it had this green tint to it, so you wouldn't be completely invisible. Also, the major catch was that it was only invisible to a video camera and not the naked human eye.

But, I think this gives some hope on developing invisiblity for the human eye.

Its called adaptive camoflage. And can work in two ways. The one is by having a fabric that has both a tiny camera and a screen on it. The camera send the signal to the screen on the other side of the suit. This happens all over the suits. Its not a 35 mm camera we are talking about here. Its micro cameras. But this will make a shadow.

The other is by refracting the light trough light strings(dont know the word in english) that just passes the light around you. This way one can avoid the shadow if made perfect.

Oh yea. Well, it's funny you should say that, because adaptive camoflauge was "featured" in James Bond, "Tommorow Never Dies". ejoifjewiofjewio ;;

I recall watching the news or reading in a science magazine about how this "cloak" thing with the camera's and screen has already been tested on an airplane. There are reports too about people seeing those huge triangles floating by, and they can only detect an outline of them. The see sky, but a triangular outline where the craft is passing overhead. I guess like the diffracted image a water bubble produces. Who here thinks antigravity technology is not already in use?

Ok, so this is a tad off topic...but it just reminded me of this great idea I had about developing a material that allows the sun's UV rays to pass through it...then you could make bathing suits out of it and...bam...no more tan lines. Girls would love it. Guys could use some tint on those white asses too.

Well, I have heard this, though I have never tried it myself. But I did read an article on turning invisible. It says you mush turn your aura black, thus not emiting any light? I don't know, I mean, I am going to try it, the concept seems possible.

Well, yeah. A lot of that article is very spiritrual. But, the concept appears to be somewhat of what you are describing. I am not sure if the aura is strong enough to block out light, but certainly it is a possibility. It just seems that this "suit" that you speak of could match the point of the article.

With a hologram projector u should be able to get invisible for your surroundings.

You could make a box of holographic plates and hide yourself in it. Unfortunately you wouldn't be able to move and with todays holographic technologies you can still see what's behind the hologram.

True Stalker, with todays tech it wont be able to become perfectly invisible from close range.
