      Reading real-life messages while lucid

I lucid dream a lot. In fact, almost every night. Recently, I've probably had on average 5 lucid dreams per week. I've been experimenting with trying to read things that other people have written down for me (in real life, without me seeing what they wrote). Has anyone else tried anything like this? If so, I'd like to hear about your experience. I'll share my own two attempts at doing this.

My girlfriend wrote down a random word (in real life) and I read it while lucid. It looked like part of a page ripped out of a newspaper comic strip. It had a large picture of Tigger the tiger on it and it said "Tigger". It also had what looked like a smaller Calvin and Hobbes strip below that.

The real-life paper actually said "Peanut". Now this is a bit of a stretch, but "Peanuts" is probably the most famous comic strip ever in the US, so there is an indirect connection there. I consider this experiment inconclusive.

I also had a friend write something down on a whiteboard in his kitchen two miles away. I've been trying to read it for the last week or so, but have had trouble getting to his kitchen until now. I read the whiteboard in two separate lucid dreams in the last two days.

The first dream has a lot of what I call "dream haze". Memories of it are very fuzzy. I almost didn't remember I had a lucid dream at all. Anyways, I only remember a few words: saturday, delivery, and work. There may have also been: no (or go), power, and electricity. But I'm very uncertain about the last two words. Like I said, there was a lot of "dream haze".

I read the whiteboard more clearly last night with much less dream haze. The board said two things, and I was only able to read the first part. It said something like: "we're who what we are." I don't know what that means but it seemed to make sense at the time I read it.

I don't know yet what the whiteboard really says. I've left a voicemail on my buddy's phone detailing what I saw. I'll update this thread when he calls me back.

      Anyone else tried this?

That's really cool. I like that idea, I'm gonna have to try it.

      peanuts is a mega stretch.

and I'm sure you'll find someway to stretch whatever is on the fridge to what you actually predicted.

This topic is just like horoscopes to me. The predictions are so broad, if you believe in them, then you can make them fit.

I personally dont believe in this.

I agree it is a stretch and not a direct hit. However, there *is* a relationship there. Say the word "peanuts" (granted, the word on the paper was non-plural) in a word association game and the average person would be reasonably likely to think of the comic strip.

It's all in the name of science. I'm trying my best not to skew the results. One way I'm preventing this is by deciding precisely what I saw before revealing the contents of the actual message, so as not to bias my memory.

If you're interested, try reading the wikipedia entry on Edgar Cayce for a well documented related subject. If I recall correctly, Stephen Laberge, the lucid dreaming researcher, once theorized that lucid dreaming was related to what Edgar Cayce would do.

I understand your skepticism though. I'm going into this skeptical as well, but I'm also keeping a very open mind. Afterall many people are skeptical of lucid dreaming itself.

How exactly do you interact with the physical world when you are laying down, asleep? Are you proposing that you sleep walk, or are you referring to an alleged OBE? If neither, then please explain.

Not to butt in, but I've heard about studies that allege you actually leave your physical body during sleep. Most of the time it is only a matter of inches...but I've always been fascinated with "shared dreams" and things of the sort, and find these kind of experiments extremely interesting.
