It seems there is a constant war between science and religion/paranormal/higher forces/whatever.
Do you think they will ever be united?
Do you think it is even possible for them to be united?
I think they can be united, and are, but it is impossibe for humans to understand it. It is not our place to know the meaning behind everything. If we did, life would be rather boring. It's all about living in the now... and creating our world.

Does it matter? there are alot of things people cannot explain, you can see it both ways. In a way, belief is living a life of wonder, and adventure, and science is living a life of knowing questions that are on your mind. Everyone has beliefs, and beliefs go beyond paranormal, or religion, or whatever. Beliefs can be anything. Science gives us some answers for our belief, but we get more beliefs. Taking away beliefs is like taking away your humanity, just as taking away science. Both can be united, but both can not be united. I guess it depends on the person you ask. The only belief you should not go for is blind faith, because blind faith you have no expierience in at all, you believe because it's for your selfish reasons, and that's why it's called blind faith, believing in it because you want to, not because you believe in it.
Without religion there wouldn't be any science. Mysticism is essential because it gives us ways of conceptualizing the unknown. Overtime these conceptualizations become more complex and specialized and you end up with Gods of war, gods of love, gods for crops. Then you get further specialization with angels and demons for every occasion. I think there is even a patron saint of butterflies.
I contend that without this initial mystical thought process, we would never have arrived at the specialization required to even begin proper science. Science and religion are part of the same process of discovery.

No.
And I say this because the very definition of "paranormal" is "not scientifically explainable."
Therefore they cannot be united. Science attempts to explain things through logic, testing, evidence, and measurement. Religion and such is simply faith and belief. While both attempt to explain the world around them, both are very different in fundamental ways.
If people stopped being so hardheaded and got their shit together, the two could coexist peacefully.
But alas, someone always feels the need to claim they are right and everyone else is wrong.

I think on some level they will.
But it's hard to say.
