You should not have bought it untill you knew exactly what it was you were dealing with. The stuff will twist your insides and can fuck you up BIG TIME. Whatever you know right now about reality, throw it out because what you will see you are not prepared for. DON'T GET DMT (youtube joe rogan and dmt), atleast not untill you REALLY research it. Salvia, and DMT are not drugs...they will warp the f out of your reality.

I've never taken it myself but i've heard SO BLOODY MUCH about this stuff.

oh wow... really?? well then i guess i'll give it to somebody as a present then... hahah na seriously, i'll throw it or something... but dayum it was so expensive when i bought it

Don't throw it out, just do your research and take very small doses because this is your first time. Also, if you take it make this your number 1 priority. Have a buddy with you who is not going to take this. You DON'T wanna be walking or anything while you're on this trip, make sure he makes you stay sitting on a chair or a couch and doesn't let you move from that spot because you are not seeing what is really there, and who knows what can happen if you go walking around on this. Stay sitting in a chair, it's a must for your safety.

I tried it as well, and got very little effect. Out of four of us, the only one who really felt it was a friend of mine, and all she did was laugh a whole lot for no reason. I honestly just felt like I'd smoked a lot of weed and even that lasted for only 15 minutes or so.

I have done it a handful of times, there is a few things you should know.

It's an extremely powerful drug, but it can be very interesting sometimes. As for smoking it, you have to do a few things:

-Use a butane mini-torch lighter. The active chemicals in salvia require a very hot temperature inorder to be vaporized. A regular bic lighter can do the trick, but it's not nearly as effective as using a mini-torch.
-Hold the flame on it the entire time! As said before, it needs to be burned at a high temperature, so you need to hold the flame. I recommend you use a water bong or else it could be quite harsh on the throat
-Hold the smoke in for 30 seconds! This can be key to a successful salvia trip.

Something else you should be aware is it's reverse tolerance. It's not like other drugs. Normally the more you take drugs, the more you need to get high and you develope tolerance over time. Salvia is the opposite. The more salvia you do, the LESS you will need and the more powerful it will get. Also you won't normally trip out from it until you do it a good 3 times.

Salvia is a wonderful herb though. It's very safe too as long as you are careful. Really the only potential problems they can find with it is that smoking anything is bad.. but I mean you take 1-2 hits and thats all so not very much smoke is even entering the lungs.

I have only recently gotten aquainted with salvia. I have used the liquid extract form.
It is certainly not for the fainthearted.

A couple of things to bear in mind should you even want to try.

It is likely that on the first occassion Salvia will test you. This might be beyond intense!

Second thing is that it has the ability to reveal aspects of the future. How this manifests is really quite peculiar. It would take many many words to describe.
I have found myself enacting visionary/hallucinatory aspects of things to come. This is important to bear in mind afterwards should your mind ever settle down enough to draw rational conclusions.

For me it's a bit like weed and 'shrooms together. However, I have only used the unfortified leaves, so I can't speak to the effects of the concentrated stuff.

If you get the plain leaves it's best to chew them - 20 to 30 minutes without swallowing (stomach acids nutralize the active ingredients) - then spit it all out. This prolongs the experience quite a bit; from maybe 10 minutes if you smoke it to more than an hour if you chew it. Chewing is the traditional method used by the indigenous peoples of Mexico who starting using it in the first place.

However you use it just be sure to get settled and comfortable first. Use the bathroom, get a glass of water, put on good music (mellow is much better than banger here), let the dog out, then relax and enjoy.

Theres a reason why the only people who are interested in salvia are the ones that haven't tried it yet.

Cool very interesting... that explains why the first 4 times didn't do ANYTHING AT ALL to me.. only sweating and the weird come on feeling. The fifth time, I closed my eyes, lay on bed, and was pulled in a dream, that was pretty cool, but not very strong still. Eventho I kinda totally forgot about myself and it felt like I was in another country, in another place, when my sis came into my room to tell me dinner was ready, I was pulled out of the dream right away and all effects were gone! After this I kinda gave up on it because I don't like how it's actually hard to feel the effects, but now that I know about the reverse tolerance I'm sure going to try it out again and again ^^ thx for sharing!

I tried it once through a bubbler, but didn't get any effects from it really. For about 10 seconds, my friend sounded like he was in slow motion, but then everything was normal. My other friend said she say fantasia on the floor, got freaked out and went home. We got the 10X stuff. I've heard it goes all the way up to 90X, but the store around here only sells 10X. Chewing the leaves sounds like the best way to do it. Next time, I'm putting it in my hookah.

I enjoyed my experiences with salvia enough that I bought two plants. It's definitely a drug you need to approach with respect and a calm, clear mind. It's not a party drug by any stretch of the imagination. Get yourself in a place you feel safe and relaxed, find a friend you trust completely to babysit you, clear your mind of stress and tense and let salvia take you on a wild ride. The best thing about her is, even if you don't like where she's taken you, she'll have you back to lucid and sober within the hour :-)

Schmaven, the reason you didn't get much effect is that the active ingredient in salvia is water soluable (unlike THC). Had you drank the contents of your bubbler, you might have gotten more of an effect ... or barfed. Best bet for smoking it is in a regular pipe.

Jamie gave the best info. so far. Just remember to have a baby sitter and don't do it in a house with someone you are hiding it from, you may end up running around the house. The standardized 20x from iamshaman.com is the strongest extract I've tried other than straight pure crystals ofcourse, all the sites that claim to have 50x and 80x and 100x etc.. are almost always bull shitting. To really leave your body with salvia you will need to either get the pure crystal from ethnogarden.com (I don't know any other source of pure crystal) and smoke it from a crack style pipe, or follow a very careful diet for a few weeks and combine the 20x with some MAOIs.

i've done salvia once, but it wasn't much i just lost track of who i was, where i was, and that i just smoked it for a couple of minutes.

That makes sense. I was told to smoke it out of a water device though. Do you think it'd work in a hookah?

Some have proposed salvinorin to be slightly water soluble, but the vast majority of clinical data suggests that it is so slight that it should not be considered.

IME, just like marijuana, salvia works better from a water pipe.

AHHHHH...........................I have much experience with this, not really the most intelligent introduction but what doesnt kill you makes you stronger. My ex and I were known in the neighborhood for having a "good time" and some friends brought us something they said was legal and was supposed to be like other smokable friendlies, called salvia 10x. Bought it at an herbal store and didn't want to try it without us. I was always most cautious and watched first. Every one seemed to have a good reaction, but it was clear they were far from reality and like fainting, had no sense of how long they'd been that way, even though it was only a few minutes. I tried it and the whole room expanded, furniture slid away and the floor seemed to drop out from under us (kind of like that Jamaroqui music video). Some people tried to run away from what they were seeing or jumped but I was so scared I never could have moved. About 10 of us were involved the first time and I probably watched about 20 different people try it.

NOW TO THE PART ABOUT WHAT DOESN'T KILL YOU.....

I knew it was a mistake to let our alcoholic room mate try this stuff (he had serious mental problems to begin with), but my not very nice ex thought it would be FUNNY. ok............Obviously this guy has no boundaries when it comes drugs and alcohol and (against our advice) inhaled too much, way too much. He began screaming violently and swinging at everything in sight, breaking things along the way. This only lasted about ten minutes, but he had to be pinned to the ground by 4 guys so he didnt hurt or kill anybody, as he was so violent and I had to run next door and tell the neighbors no one was hurt and to please not call the police it was just our alcoholic room mate (not hard to believe). When he came around he was still very angry and swore we had messed him up forever. And I dont know if he will ever be normal because not long after he was commited. (He also did alot of other drugs and alcohol and like I said he had problems.) I never did it after that again and I don't suggest it, especially alone.

That just goes to show how hallucinogenics aren't for everyone, you have to have the right mind set going into it. That is too bad about the alcoholic room mate being committed though, I imagine that must be a terrible experience.

Yes it was terrible for everyone involved. Because all were afraid for their lives and his sanity. But a friend saw him out once and said he was doing much better, but you couldnt really tell unless you lived with him. He was pretty happy go lucky on the outside and intelligent too. I remember staying up all night playing trivial pursuit with him before it got bad.... but his family said he had been through all that before, so maybe he just always bounced back....or never did? But thats so true about hallucinogens....yes.

Just curious- what do you think that reason is?

ADifferentKindOf's story illustrates the wisdom of approaching salvia with caution. As I said in my above post - chew a wad of unfortified leaves. You feel the effects come on gradually and you can spit out the leaves any time you feel like it's getting a little too intense. Smoking the stuff doesn't give you any control. Especially if it's 10x or 20x or more.

With salvia anyone can ease into a really fine trip if they aren't greedy for an instant high.
