Thread: Tell me can you "sense" out other lucid dreamers? and ap'ers?

There's this dude who runs my computer programming workshop that knows what lucid dreaming is. Seemed surprised that I knew. But we were only talking about it because this girl (who lives on my floor, coincidentially) said she was interested in dream recall and control. I've talked more about it with the girl, and we are on friendly terms now. :]

I think that people who are interested in lucid dreaming have a sort of "other-world" sort of vibe. We all seem to have some sort of idea that there exists another world that can be reached, be that through dreams or other practices. Sometimes that's just drug-users, but sometimes I feel that if I can tell who would also be interested in dreams and if they haven't heard of lucid dreaming may at the very least think over the idea.

Unfortunately, I don't seem to find many people like that around here. There's not a very large open-minded population overall.

hmm, I havnt really, but then again all my classes are with very grounded scientific types...so there might just not be any in my classes!

I haven't expirienced this "sense" before(at least not in the case of knowing who is a lucid dreamer), but maybe that's because I have only had one lucid so far. I would like to know more of this "sense" though. Can you describe it? Is it just a feeling where you just KNOW that person "x" is into the metaphysical/paranormal, etc. I have expirienced the strong feeling of knowing something, but it doesn't relate to people being interested in lucid dreaming/astral projecting.

This thread didn't need to be moved to beyond dreaming. Whatever mod did so should research what RAPPORT means. There is nothing paranormal about this. I'm closing this.

I've calmed down a bit. I just don't understand why it was moved when my whole focus of this thread was about being in sync with people via rapport which is something talked in length about in Neuro Linguistic Programming books/subjects and classess.

It's an interesting topic, and being in the beyond dreaming sections means we have to kiss-the-bottoms of the spirit-crazed bunch, and we cant have an open discussion, or ask difficult questions without being branded "closed minded". (personally i like to keep my mind open in a similar to how open i keep my wallet... I'll open my wallet to invest in interesting, useful things... but wont go throwing money at nonsense, scams and con men. Just my take on things)

As for the original topic,

With the girl, perhaps it was a case of wishful thinking backed up by how popular the subject really is?

I forget how many times i've projected my wishes onto a girl i thought was pretty, hoping that there would be something more to her too. I also think it's not too suprising that she was into those kinds of things. Look at all the big movies out there "Twilight" and all the other supernatural themed films etc., there is a very wide public interest in "strange phenomena" and the supernatural, I would say at least 80% of the population has some kind of interest in these things. Much more for people between 15-25. A lot of people will be interested even if they dont actively investigate these things or talk openly about it. I also can think of very few girls who havn't dabbled in wicca or the likes at some point in thier teenage years.

I'm often shocked by people suddenly expressing an interest in things like this, although I know i shouldnt be. I think the real culrpit is that it is actually really mainstream, but as a subject it wants to be considered alternative (as that helps people feel unqiue and special if they are doing something "unusual"). So few people talk openly about it, as they all believe it to be unusual, when its really quite common.

Here in the UK, there is at least one new-age-mystical shop in almost any reasonable sized town. They are almost as common as McDonalds! So there must be money to be made, or there wouldnt be so many shops. Consumer demand and all that. Also check out the self-help new age sections in a book shop, they are always depressingly much bigger than the popular science section! (IMHO)

I think I look normal, dress normal - but lately people assume I am like..high 24/7! the in the last two years, where ever I worked the employees and my boss would assume I was smoking something - I don't even drink! (I've never even had a drink) and this is without even talking about weird things like lucid dreaming

and even after a year at my last job, they're still trying to catch me secretly doing something

On my way home, outside my apartment some totally random guy asked me if I had any drugs to sell him. my bewildered and offended expression had him stuttering something before running off

I'm not weird

I dissagree sort of but then again i dont disagre.
