Thread: The Third Eye

I'm pretty sure by third-eye, they mean your mind's eye, or your subconscious mind.

Duh.

Our third eye is one of the seven primary chakras (brow chakra) and is located between your eyebrows, but slightly raised (mid forehead). To develop this region gives you certain attributes such as better visualization, increased psychic perceptions, and better creativity.

I've only, very recently, started studying chakras. I've done a few chakra exercises, and I've noticed the third eye exercises, so far, are the most interesting. At times, I'll practice opening my brow chakra, and forget to close it, and I will notice straaaange "coincedences" all day long.

Again, my interest in chakras is still one of skeptical curiousity. I haven't had any "mind blowing experiences," through them, yet, but I can't ignore the fact that some strange intuition and sychronicity occurances have happened while my third eye was 'open.'

Duh yourself, third eye is a chakra (energy center).

To find it, you must practice feeling, really feel, wether it be with your ears, your skin, your heart, your mind, or your eyes. Feel, and expand your awareness.

Third eye does many things, mostly intuitive abilities

Are you familiar with mantras?

Try this, for 3 nites in a row meditate approximately 10 minutes or more, devote the first 5 minutes to calming the mind and reaching a peaceful type state, spend the rest of the time saying the mantra 'TH' as in the word THE. The trick is to feel as I have said, feel the vibrations going through you, penetrating into between eyes and other parts of forehead. make sure to do the meditation/mantra same time each nite.

Good luck and dont over do it.

i think to open your third eye you must use all your sences, beleive in all and control the main elements (Fire, Wind, Earth and Water ask if you want a PM to tell you how to control them)
when it opens your sences and control over the elements will more than likly enhance giving you total control over the elements and your sences

They call it the Third Eye because of its Position, not because of its function, in the same way that they call a man's penis "the one-eyed snake' -- not because it sees anything, but because, well, it looks like a one-eyed snake.

The designation of Eye of Wisdom is more to the point. I was just reading today, in a bestseller called "Blink" that that particular portion of the brain is where Decision Making is centered. I believe that this Eye of Wisdom helps greatly with the Faculty of True Discerment... what is popularly known as Wisdom or more practically as Common Sense. Once this Chakra is open I can guess that one would have a great good many more Spiritual Experiences, Visions, and encounters with psychic or supernatural phenomena.

I myself am an old High Initiate into Kundalini Yoga and went through a Shaktipat Program with more than several Gurus. Shaktipat is a procedure of raising or opening a Chakra by a Gurus touch or transfer of Energies. It is very convenient, compared to other well known methods of using mental meditations and breathing exercises.

But Shaktipat Gurus, though more plentiful than ever before, are not entirely ubiquitous. I've been experimenting with new students of the Kundalini, based on a text I once read in an old translation of the Upanisads, "that in the presence of a God or Saint, the Eye of Wisdom will unfold". It has been my experience that when I am in the same room or auditorium with a particularly Holy person, I will get a slight pressure sensation behind and slightly above the brows, in the forehead... think in terms of a headache that doesn't hurt. If not paying particular attention to the feeling, one would likely disregard the feeling as... well, as a headache that doesn't hurt. But it is the opening of the Eye of Wisdom. In a Dream it would appear as a radiant light, but while awake, it is perceived as just a pressure sensation.

What one should do if one does feel this sensation, is to focus upon it, point one's fingers into it, and consciously build upon it. If one pays no attention to it, it will diminish and perhaps go back to nothing. But if concentrated upon, maybe 7 or 8 times a day in the first few days, then it will result in a permanent opening of the Eye of Wisdom, and you could consider it a First Initiation. there are several more Initiations after that, but we need not get ahead of ourselves.

I'll tell you my experience with the third eye chakra. I recently read about doing meditation for this chakra, so I figured I would try it. I have always been interested in psychic abilities and have had experiences with such over the years, so I wanted to try and improve mine. I meditated with fluorite gemstones in my hand, while throughout the meditation I held them to my solar plexus and brow as well. The meditation was simple, I just quietened myself, directed my thoughts to this particular chakra, and envisioned an eye opening. I also envisioned a glowing light in these areas. It was simple and quick. The results have been quite unbelieveable. While I feel my psychic abilites did increase, I also began seeing dead people (ghosts). I had never seen them before. But I guess people who do see them must have their third eye open. It was shocking at first, but I'm learning to deal with it. I don't see them that often, so I guess that's good. Needless to say, I am still quite curious about all the chakras, and I'm in the process of trying to balance mine.

What about your Crown Chakra?

This is how you can get to that. When you twist and turn your head, you can discern the swivel point at the top of your spine that the head rolls about on. You can bring your tongue back along the top of your pallet and point it up toward that swivel point. You can energize your Agna Chakra (Eye of Wisdom, Third Eye... whatever) and let the Energy trail back along the top of the pallet to that swivel point. Then concentrate on that swivel point, but in order to go deeper and deeper into it until you can discern a small point, about the size of a pea or a BB which will oscillate back and forth. At first the swivel point will seem about as large as a golf ball, but just keep boring into it, skinning it like an onion making you concentration tighter and tighter until you come to the oscillating pea. That is the Key.

From that Point in the Swivel Point you can direct the Kundalini Energy or the Chi, or Qi up to the back of the top of the head, where the skul sutures join up... it is where people who put knots in their hair tie the knot. When you hit this point with the Kundalini Power, then the entire top and back of the head will activate and it will feel as though one has put on a hat or crown. The feeling is sensational as you will be able to feel the space that extends beyond the top of the head. It will be like you have a Halo and can tangibly feel it.

Also, from that small oscillating point in the swivel point, you could also direct the Energy downward to the lower chakras, if you really do insist upon 'balancing your chakras'. As I said, it is the 'key'. My Guru taught that to me. Surprisingly it is not mentioned in any of his books. All of these old Gurus always keep something in reserve, no?

The third eye is the center of psychic powers and higher intuition,
you can receive guidance, channeling,and tune into your higher self.
This is the center that enabels you to experience telepathy,
astral travel and past lives.

Also, since the 60's (maybe before?) the psychic-like experiences associated with the "third-eye" have been connected to the activities and chemicals of the Pineal gland in our brains.

Those who are actually adepts, initiates etc. please excuse my way of explaining...

Well, I am also a person who is capable of "using" energies as I will.

About that third eye. It's a chakra as others say and it is actually usually open. But the energy coming to you is like 5%. People with higher "energy income" are capable of astral travel, communication with other people by "something like ehm telepathy..well...I don't know how to call it", capable of sharing dreams, capable of programming other people actions and so on.

You can also use your third eye to see. But you will get a mish mash of energies in front of you and if you are capable to see them in color it's pretty confusing. I prefer just watch the energies flow and feel them with my hands as they are more sensitive them "vision". It is true that seeing other beings in color is better. As earth elementals are really beautiful in color. and you will notice dead people more easily. well sometimes I wish I couldn't see things other people don't see....

it's also chakra which can open your other "higher chakras." With the help of these you can really develop your other abilities.
