Thread: Would be studying the Chakra's be agianst my religion?

It depends on which denomination you're part of.
For instance, I could not study Chakra's or even yoga because it's part of a different religion that teaches (IMO) untruths about things of a spiritual and divine nature. I'm one of Jehovah's Witnesses and we believe firmly in the Bible's counsel that:
"YOU cannot be drinking the cup of Jehovah and the cup of demons; YOU cannot be partaking of “the table of Jehovah” and the table of demons. "- 1 Corinthians 10:21
In other words, we can't mix and match religions to meet our own wants but adhere firmly to the Bible and our understanding of it.

But other denominations approach things differently. If your Pastor, however, says not to, it is probably against your branch of Christianity.

Just call it something different then, they are ten recepticals for your energy that can be focused and utllized to aid in building energy, health, and many other advantageous uses. If it's so blasphemous for you to channel your chakras then just put it in more secular, practical terminology.

All religions are the same, the symbols are just different. Gnostic Christians practiced many forms of meditation, and they were taught these forms from the apostles. They wrote historical versions of Jesus much more practical then the myth written in the bible if you actually want to see Christ as a role model.

I grew up in deeply catholic country - Poland and I was able to see the morbid nature of Church system. It's one of the reasons this country mentally falls behind the West. To make it short although baptised I do not belong to this institution anymore.
One of the fundamental principle of any organised religion is to not to loose its members thus it portaits any other way of thinking as blashemy, evil etc.
If you want to be one of many obedient Christians confess to your local priest and have your mind controlled by him. Maybe he will allow you to do some research to the certain degree. But if you want to be free - just be FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EEEEEEEEE!

You can tell your goofy pastor that god told you chakras are ok and/or that studying chakras enhances your relationship with god.


Of course my real advice to you would be to do some critical thinking and realize chakras and church are worth nothing, ditch them both and focus your efforts on lucid dreaming.

My suggestion if you want to be a Christian leave your church, it sounds like a very ignorant one. Some sects of Christianity look at everything "mystical" etc.. as created by the Devil, other ones are less crazy.

I'd actually suggest you forget Christianity, look at Jesus as a great person that once lived and move on with your life but that is up to you.

"Witch craft" is not evil, has nothing to do with the devil. And Ghost hunters has nothing to do with Witchcraft, your pastor is off his rocker.

I respect your dedication to the faith, but also ask that you look at the scriptures about such things yourself and decide for yourself whether or not God is against Chakra's. Your pastor cannot tell you what the Bible says just as he cannot define your relationship with God.

I'll give an example. The way I see it, evolution fits in with the Bible as do many other beliefs that many if not most pastors would think heretical.

I think you must do this as well. It is written, 'seek out your own salvation with fear and trembling.' Your pastor, a priest, a PhD in theology cannot tell you what a verse should mean to you better than your own interpretation can. If they tell you otherwise, they are disagreeing with God and the things that make us human and individuals.

Ask god what he thinks of chakras. Then ask chakras what they think of god. See why people think the two are incompatible, then decide for yourself whether or not those beliefs are true or false.

You're asking the wrong people. If I wanted to steal something, would I go for guidence from a gang of theifs? Of course you'll naturally search for the answer you want. But I think you want more than that. Ask other Christians, either on a Christian site or at your church. I'm a Christian, and even I can start to feel the flawed thinking of this forum get to me. Don't compromise your beliefs. Simple rule: If you're not sure, leave it alone.

I was a christian and still am, I'm just not to sure at this point, because of astral projection and lucid dreaming because I know for a fact that they're real and blasphemous. I also recently watched the movie Zeitgeist witch I strongly reccomend doing if you haven't yet. I don't mean to question your faith or try and offend you, but the movie is quite an eye opener.

It seems to me AP is definitely not against the bible, because characters obviously had such experiences. The whole book of revelations seems to be one to me. Since many sources support chakra growth being linked to better AP results I would say that by association chakras also do not go against christianity.

You've noticed that also eh?

Check out the aureola depicted around each saints head or body. It's the same concept as auras and chakras. Superstition or not, christianity also refers to the same thing.

I realized long ago that the difference between witchcraft and the like and Christianity is that with the one people seem feel they're in more control of their future. With Christianity, you subject yourself whole souled to the will of God. We can pray and ask for guidance and help, but ultimately, the choose is Gods.
When I was practicing witchcraft, spiritism and such in my younger years, I felt that through incantations and meditations (of a different sort than Christianity accepts), I could influence the cosmos and the forces of nature etc to favor me. I felt in control.

Visions and such which occurred to Christians and earlier to the Israelites were of a different fashion. In the past, God allowed (or outright gave) his people to have visions because knowledge was extremely limited and he was working on a large scale to vindicate his sovereignty and help his chosen people grow. But when the Bible was completed, there was no longer any reason for visions. They were one of the gifts that passed away.

God has always worked very hard to keep his people morally and spiritual clean. In the Old Testament the Israelites were not even supposed to form alliances or marriages of a different faith. The New Testament tells us to "marry only in the Lord", or with people of our faith.
At Acts 19:18-20 we read: "And many of those who had become believers would come and confess and report their practices openly. 19 Indeed, quite a number of those who practiced magical arts brought their books together and burned them up before everybody. And they calculated together the prices of them and found them worth fifty thousand pieces of silver. 20 Thus in a mighty way the word of Jehovah kept growing and prevailing."

Even now, God desires his people to not to mingle in beliefs he does not approve of- those which are not accepted in the Bible or those part of another religion.

I agree with your Pastor when he said Witch Hunters is bad. But for a different reason. When you realise that "the dead know nothing at all," (Ecclesiastes 9:8) you know there are no such thing as ghosts. But what of all the "evidence"?
2 Corinthians 11:15, 15 says:
"And no wonder, for Satan himself keeps transforming himself into an angel of light. 15 It is therefore nothing great if his ministers also keep transforming themselves into ministers of righteousness. But their end shall be according to their works."
Even though taken out of context, it shows that Satan will do anything to decieve people. Ghosts are nothing more than demons pretending to be our loved ones or other people.

Have a heart to heart with your Pastor or other Pastors from other churches. Beliefs vary between different denominations and if you truly want the answer, the best place you could find it is with others who worship as you do.

Well, I was referring to the fact all the pictures and paintings of saints have auras around their bodies or heads. But I found a reference in the Bible that directly refers to auras (spirit) and chakras (chakra translated means wheel).

Right you are. I don't agree with many of the different teaching found in denominations that are not my own.
2 Corinthians 13:5 says in part:
"Keep testing whether YOU are in the faith, keep proving what YOU yourselves are..."

But the question was: "Would be studying the Chakra's be agianst **my** religion?" Not my own or yours or anyone save the Questioners.
My role as a Minister of Jehovah (disapproved though I may be), is not to convert people but to answer their Bible based questions. Neither is it to win arguments or cause trouble or lead astray etc. I merely want to help answer the question of a Christian, though of a different denomination than my own.
For thorough answers regarding his specific faith, I refer him to his religious leaders. Although I've studied with so many different religions I've lost count lol, I am by no means an expert. Shoot, Im not even an expert Witness of Jehovah lol. I often have to research questions because either I don't know or I've forgotten The Scriptures I site, I don't even have memorized in full. I have to go to my Bible index and search familiar words and phrases.

The Questioner wasn't asking for arguments or conversion but guidance. By all means, people should first search for answers to their questions in the Bible. But even the apostles needed to be taught and guided.
Romans 10:13-15 states:
"For “everyone who calls on the name of Jehovah will be saved.” 14 However, how will they call on him in whom they have not put faith? How, in turn, will they put faith in him of whom they have not heard? How, in turn, will they hear without someone to preach? 15 How, in turn, will they preach unless they have been sent forth? There's nothing wrong with going to someone else more knowledgable for help. So, I stand by my recommendation that he should see his Pastor

religion!!!! uff...i better keep my mouth shut....only thing i can and will say IS...look deeply in to your self and ask!! who is god??? not an easy Q to answer huh... then try, who am I?? pretty rough to!!! but at the end im pretty sure u will get the same answer.... some need to search for years or even lifetimes... and some simply just use the rule out methode...! and some like me were lucky enough to read some logic and easy to read books that simply just explained it all to me... but it is not every one who have a free mind to read what they want but thats just a choise one have to make!! either way its all good... as long as one is happy

THe church likes to teach that truth is something they already figured out, and that they have all the answers. I prefer to see truth as a process of exploration.

I guess thats maybe a better interpretation but how do you explain the auras around the heads and bodies of saints, just a fantasy?

The greatest stumbling block in uncovering the truth and reality are belief systems. Belief in God is simply blasphemy, because the moment we belief in God we suggest that God is separate, somewhere where we are not and miss the fact that what created all the atoms that make us and hold us together is at the core of every particle of our being, now, here. Religions and belief in God divorce us from reality and will never reveal whatever God is as they always addresses our thinking rather than awareness of what IS. Religion and “scriptures” are just other people’s ideas (as is this), a smokescreen obscuring the truth (as is this). So figure it out yourself by becoming truly aware of what IS, NOW and don’t listen to other people (not even this).
OK, so this should set you free and allow you to explore your chakras and the rest of the universe unimpeded by other people ideas or belief systems. Isn’t that what life is all about?

The thing about the bible is their is no one literal fully accepted way to interpret it. If you really look into the bible you will also notice many things involved with astrology.

Genesis 1:14 "And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days and years:"

Job 38:31-33 "Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion? Canst thou bring forth Mazzaroth(the Zodiac) in his season? or canst thou guide Arcturus with his sons?

Psalms 8:3 "When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;"

Luke 21:25 "And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars;..."

Matthew 2:1-2 "...there came wise men(astrologers/magicians)from the east to Jerusalem, Saying, where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him."
(Speaking of which, aren't those magicians burning in hell now or something for not being devout christians... haha, this is why Christianity needs to change and become more accepting of all people and drop the holier than thou, you burn in hell I don't nonsense.. All people would be judged on merit not affiliation)

You'll also notice that some bible books seem to be more tainted with certain things, such is the fault of multiple men writing it. You can't take anything in it for face value.

Did "Jesus" say its was? I think not.

The trouble with any organised religion is the very people "who answer the calling". Have you ever wondered what kind of person is drawn to be a preist? Everyone has an ego. Suggest this person is either on a power trip and just loves having a "flock" who he gets to "minister" - even as far as telling you which TV programs are "evil" OR he thinks he is for sure double certain to go to "heaven" due to all the souls he is saving from the devil. A famous quote from arthur C Clark "Anyone who activley seeks power over others is the very last person that society should allow to wield it".

As it has been said above. There is no supernatral super good sky fairy looking after you - neither is there a super bad bogey man out to get you. You can beleive you are nasty little sinner and a "tool" of gods will - or you can beleive in yourself and your own free will.

This is why Xtianity is so twisted. Who wants to beleive they are born bad sinners with praeternatural superpowers fighting over their "immortal souls". And then "Flock" to church on a sunday (isnt it odd that in any other walk of life to be called a sheep would be insulting - it is after all the epitomy of mindless group think). At church they take a seat in the auditorium and pay for the privilege to watch some "preist" perform rites they are no where near "holy" enough to work them selves. Then they wallow in the gulit of their "origional sin" by praying to some hammed up effigy of a man dying. Its vile, repugnent relgion for those who are unable to embrace their own free will and responsibility for their choices and actions.

And of course anyone who doesnt buy into "Jesus Incoportated" (an unequal oppotunities empolyer because women suck - apparently) is automatically working 'for the other side" and the "god of love" is going to condem them to a firey pit forever and ever

As others have said above - whatever the hell deity/divinity/Chi/Force/Ka/energy/whatever "is" - it is inside you. You are a miracle of nature - a free thinking concious entity with your own free will. Do what you want. Dont do what anyone tells you - espcially dogma pushers. Live big - try everything at least once - nothing is true, everything is permitted.

If studying chakras is against your religion then this is a good thing and you should start immediately.
