yea i've had a few like that before and only ever with nightmares! whenever it's a nightmare I usually "wake myself up" like you did but not actually getting up. Then the dream repeats itselfs. It's a horrible process eh?
So the other night I had a really strange and scary dream.
It was nighttime, and I was inside my house, talking on the phone with someone.... when I hear my doorbell upstairs. So I go check it out and this young girl in a white gown is at my door and asks if she can come in. She looked kind of drained out and deathly though... I almost felt an evil vibe from her. Well, i figured it was just a little girl and I wasnt really thinking so I let her in. She follows me to my basement, and then she suddenly turns into this horrific looking decaying zombie with sharp teeth and starts to chase me. Last thing i remember was running back up the stairs, tripping, and blacking out.
Then I wake up and think "oh it was just a nightmare." It was during the early afternoon and I get up and go upstairs to get a glass of tea when i suddenly get that strange vibe again. I turn around and look at the door, and there she was, standing at my door again!! I get an intense pang of panic and fear and I think "Didn't I just dream this?? Is this really happening?" Somehow, I was compelled to go towards the door to let her in, knowing exactly what was going to happen.... almost like a voice beckoned me. I open the door for her, and she starts following me to my basement... as if I couldnt control what was happening. i tried to scream in my head and that managed to wake me up for REAL this time.
So basicaly I had the same dream back to back, and I thought the 2nd time was when I actually woke up. When I REALLY did wake up, I was scared to go upstairs... but I pinched and slapped myself a couple times to make sure I was awake before I went upstairs... and much to my relief, the little girl was not there.
Anyone get dreams like these?

I had a series of False Awakenings, thinking you wake up but really are still dreaming, where some invisible oppressive force kept making itself known until I really woke up and I too wasn't sure if I was dreaming or not. I glanced over at my closet, the place the thing's presence came from, and told it to stay the f out of my dreams.
