Keeping a Dream Journal has been extremely helpful for my Dream Recall. So I think that is an important place to start. If you are already remembering parts of dreams each night, then you are ahead of a lot.
Another thing that helps me as far as Recall goes, is if I ever wake up at night, I have trained myself to think about what I was dreaming about. If it is something worthwhile I jot it down on a piece of paper. If it isn't that exciting, I'll think about it for just a minute, and that is often enough for me to remember it in the morning. Then of course, as soon as I'm awake, I'll scribble a few key words on paper until I have more time to do my Dream Journal. Using this method I was able to remember 12 different dreams from last night--my best recall ever.
