There are a few things you can do. First of all, you should keep a dream journal and write everything down. Even if, at first, they are only small fragments or feelings. Just keep doing it and you will get better, trust me.
Another thing you can do is set an alarm clock in the middle of the night. You can time this pretty well since REM sleep (the stage of sleep where you dream) happens in fairly predictable intervals (about ~90 minutes) during the night. So you can set your alarmclock at multiples of ninety minutes from your bedtime. You should aim for the later REM periods since their duration increase as the night progresses (in other words, your later REM periods will contain longer dreams). So set the clock at four and a half, six or seven and a half hours after you sleep. When you wake up then, you'll probably remember the dream you were in and you can write it downIf you need focus, just set the alarm clock pretty loud so you'll wake up AWAKE. You don't want to just.. turn it off and go to sleep again ^^
Hope it helps.. If I misunderstood you in any way, please tell me and I'll see what other info I can offer
Good luck!
