Cool a book, it sounds interesting to be in one, oh and welcome to DV, anyway, whats the role of the people in here? Because I don't get it... sorry <.<
Well, I guess I better introduce myself first.
I'm eureka. I've been actively pursuing LDs since January of this year. It was fruitful at first but now my LDs are few and far between. I'm almost one hundred percent sure that it's because school and work has screwed over my sleep schedule. I also haven't been keeping up with my reality checks.
Now for the interesting part, I'm writing a book for a competition called National Novel Writing Month or NaNoWriMo for short. Basically, I have to write a novel that is 50000 words in length in 30 days (that calculates to roughly 1667 words a day for you people reaching for the calculator). The books are never the best quality but it's all about getting your ideas on paper and refining them afterwards. This is my first time in the competition. I'm by no means a writer, I'm just an idea generator who happens to know how to use a keyboard. The grand prize is nothing but bragging rights, there is no prize money or awards or candy. The first half of my story is about a dreamer who gets entrenched in the dream world. He starts losing control of what's happening in his waking life and retreats to lucid dreaming to try and make up for it. Eventually, the line between waking and sleeping becomes a huge blur and he doesn't know whats in his mind or real anymore. I want a big part of the book to be about a forum that he's a part of. At first I called the forum Nightfall as a filler name but I thought to myself "Maybe there is a lucid dream forum out there." Turns out there's Dream Views. A big theme of the book is how technology, especially the internet, has helped to promote lucid dreaming by the sharing of techniques and other ideas.
Here's where you come in, who wants to be in my book? I need five or six people with a lot of LD experience for specific information and if they wouldn't mind being main characters in my book I'd be thrilled. If anyone else wants to play a minor role, just respond and I'll make sure to include you in one way or another. The more the merrier. 50000 is a lot. The faster you guys and gals respond the faster I can get to writing. I'm 3000 words in and he's just about to log in.

Cool a book, it sounds interesting to be in one, oh and welcome to DV, anyway, whats the role of the people in here? Because I don't get it... sorry <.<
Check out my journal, Tales of the Inheritor.
My LD count is since January 14, 2009
Finally made a thread on my Gravity RC, anyone interested just drop me a PM.
Yes, everything must be googled, after all it's top secret.
hey, i would be very happy to be in your book! put me in whatever role you see fit. i call myself a novice, but i have a fair amount of experience, and i have endless "power" when i am lucid. feel free to ask me anything you want, i don't know how much you wanted to know about me before you put me in a role so i left it pretty much open.
Sweet, thanks ForgottenDream.
Just basic information is fine.
Here's a good starting template.
1. First Name
2. Home Country
3. LD Inducing Techniques
4. Interesting Experience
I also am going to have to write on your behalf so I would appreciate a description of your "style"
Are you a social kind of person, tend to keep to yourself, mild-mannered, energetic? The more detail about your character the better.
Also, don't feel obliged to indulge information about yourself. For all I care, you can make up a character, as long as it's consistent. I'll probably come back to people that have agreed and asked them stuff like "What's the first thing you would do if you joined into a group dream with everyone else on the forum? What if someone got murdered in that encounter?" Weird stuff like that.
There are two things that people can do for me:
1. Basically, just do what you'd normally do. I just want consent that I can use your likeness in book that will make zero profit. It's like a permissions slip. "Oh, so your so-and-so from Texas and use WILD-CAT that's pretty cool. Can I put you in my book?" Your level of involvement is up to you. If you want to be one of the main characters I can write you as one. This is where I want to take the story, the main character (Malcolm), meets a bunch of people of Dream Views, and they all bounce ideas of each other and get pretty close. They decide to meet one day and they all hit it off. From there they try out their own little experiments on the side and eventually manage to dream share. From there they explore the possibilities. Still not sure how it ends but that's the gist of it.
2. Throw ideas at me. I'm a newbie when it comes to LD. My character will eventually become an LD champ. I need to know the kind of stuff he'd know. Do you have an idea for a good dream related plot twist? How fast can you go from a normal dream to lucid? What are the most reliable reality checks?
If nobody want to be a main character, no hard feelings at all. I just wanted more than one angle. I'm sure if I rack my brain enough I'll be able to come up with something.

being a main character is no problem for me
i'll be as honest as possible.
1. Kenny or Ken for short, it doesn't matter.
2. U.S.A
3. awareness, if that's a technique lol. basically all you need for a lucid dream is awareness.
4. there are tons of interesting experiences. to name one, i would say teleporting was very interesting. i used the spinning technique (spin slowly, that's the trick) and i watched as the scenery changed before my eyes. as trees became houses, and vines became lampposts.
i can be spontaneous, but at the same time i can be very stable and i'm always reliable (except for library books for some reason lol). my friends say i'm funny, but they know where the line is (i'm training for mma, and built, but fairly short 5'8). if something needs to be done than i'm the guy to look for. i can also be lazy if there is nothing going on, i will do nothing at all for days in a row. as soon as i'm called to do something however i'm always there and ready, and my mind can go from 0 to 100 in a split second if necessary, although i'm fine with 0i believe anger can be constructive, but hatred is destructive. i listen to anything from folk music to metal. and i'm easy going yet stubborn if i made up my mind. in my spare time, or even during work i ponder on many things (existence, life, eternity, lucid dreaming, etc.) if one of my friends were to get in a jam, i will be the first to try and help out. i can be the voice of reason for my friends, but i'm never paranoid, i just suggest the right thing to do.
i know this all seems contradictory but it's who i am, so you have my consent to use my likeliness in a book. if you don't know how i'll react in a certain situation, by all means feel free to ask, otherwise you can be the judge.
Everyone is already in the book. And no one is. And that turns out to be the perfect orange.
Without questions that may become the best written cheddar cheese inside out.
Dreams
Like the dishes still asking to be washed, things will not be solved by covering them with a blanket.

1. First Name

3. LD Inducing Techniques
Using meditation to remain aware throughout the day, so that i realise when i am in a dream.
I also enjoy WILD'ing (Wake Initiated Lucid dreaming) and it produces great, vivid lucid dreams.
4. Interesting Experience
Since i was a child i would wake up in the middle of the night, unable to move, i would see crazy, graphic horrible images all around my room. I would try to conquer it but was never able to.
Until i found this forum and found out that what i was experiecing was infact 'sleep paralysis' - and i know look forward to having the experience as it is my gateway to lucid dreaming. I have overcome the fear of sleep paralysis and have acheived many WILDs because of it.
Whew. Hope that helps.

welcome to DreamViews, Eureka!
I've had some almost sickeningly disturbing lucid dreams, maybe that could be of use?
1. First Name
Jamous (pronounced like Jameson if you dropped the "on" at the end, [jame-iss])
2. Home Country
US--Santa Rosa, CA, north of San Francisco
3. LD Inducing Techniques
generally I try to WILD, fail, and then realize I'm dreaming anyway mid-dream... usually in the morning when I sleep in (you that feeling when you keep waking up and going back to sleep in the morning having increasingly vivid dreams). When I realise I might be dreaming, I invariably count my fingers, usually I'll see I have 4 or 6, and then I'm sure I'm dreaming.
4. Interesting Experience
sorry this is so long, but I wrote it the day after, so it pretty expressive of the way the dreams was and felt:::click here, scroll down to the last entry
if you wish to make me a main character, which would be neat!, you could get alot of information about my lucid dreaming experiences by reading my journal, which is what that link is..
anyway, hope that helps! Good luck, seriously, I think I might do nanowrimo one day as well.

btw, i forgot to mention i also draw on my spare time, and play guitar (i'm not the greatest at playing guitar lol), i play mostly metal, and my drawings are complex. i don't know if that matters, but the more info the better right? also for those of you who don't know what mma is, it stands for mixed martial arts (for example the ufc is mma), basically cage fighting.

Ah, just the normal, a lucid nightmare about the end of the world, family being transformed in demons, my killing one of the demons, getting dirt with blood, seeing the people crumble and be overwhelmed by despair. Thats what got me so into dreams that learnt to lucid withouth knowing the proper term lol
Would put anything else but, I suppose thats only the job of the main character.

Hmm, this sounds like you are trying to write Dexter's biography. LOL J/k...well not really.
Some things to include based on Dexter's personal experience.
Powerful religious Symbolism. The Character probably began in a religion that used symbolism to inundate him into concepts that force him to accept repression. Then he probably Questioned that religion when some hypocrisy or paradox emerged. In his quest to undo the repression he began to correlate symbolism from many different religions. The Symbolism pervaded his ever intense LD.
Mutation of Symbolism between correlated symbols in various religions.
Symbolism begins to appear in Waking Life.
Symbolism and patterns eventually Pervade real life so intensely and frequently that he wonders if it's all directed at him personally.
Wonders If real life is a drema because the symbols seem to move liek they do in dreams.
Reality breaks down and Charecter meditates under a tree trying to contemplate what is real and what is not and reaches enlightment.
Can I be killed off in the story?
Seriously.
