      Questions and Experiences

I have a bunch of questions about lucid dreaming. I have had a lucid dream once when I was 12, and it was super breif. Now I am intrested in the subject. So here goes some questions:

      1. Does age affect lucid dreaming? I am 37, and I was wondering if that makes it harder or easier to reach lucidity.

      2. How vivid are the controlled lucid dreams? I have had many dreams over the years. They have always been different snap shots of places and events. They never look clear to me. The picture is alway wierd when I recall it after I wake up.

      3. How long after recording dreams, and performing some of the suggestions should I expect to have a lucid dream (I know that it depends on each person, but please tell me about your personal experience).

      4. Last night, before going to bed, I was suggesting to myself to be aware of my dreams (after 5 days of reading this stuff). During the night every time I felt like I was about to have a dream I would wake up telling myself, "you're about to have a dream now. Be aware!" I wasn't able to dream because I was too sensitive to them. What should I do? Did that happen to any one of you.

      5. How well can you control your dreams? Can you do anything easily?

Anyway, I have had dreams in the past, but mostly of the type that comes true. I dream something, and usually it is symbolic. I would understand the symbols, and then they come true. Some time they are not symbolic and they happen in real life as they are.

Also, I have had back problems in the past, and part of the problem was solved when I controlled how I slept. I realized, after many nights of sleeping and waking to pain, that I could control how I slept even though I was not awake. I used to suggest to myself before goig to bed that if I sleep a certain way that I should wake up and reposition myself. It worked! I called that conscious sleeping.

Now I want to combine my dreams and conscious sleeping to achieve controlled lucid dreaming.

      Moe.

      Dream on...

      Hi Moe,

We dream alike (most dreams come true, some symbolic some just literal). I found this board because I had my first real LD and then went into an OOBE (but stopped it because I wasn't ready). The control part is amazing and I have been recallling my dreams for 10 years. Nothing compars to this experience (not even when my things in my dreams come true and). I went into another LD a couple days later but still didn't take it too far because I think one should know all the depths of this mystery before venturing in. Right now I'm in research mode. I think reading many books on the subject matter can help you (as well as getting advice here).

Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

      Re: Questions and Experiences

      Wow, such curiosity, but first:
      Welcome Moe!

I knew someone once that went by Moe, but his name was Mike. I guess he would be about your age.

      1. Does age affect lucid dreaming? I am 37, and I was wondering if that makes it harder or easier to reach lucidity.
A: Not that I can tell. I had my first when I was 30, I am now 42 and have them more often.

      2. How vivid are the controlled lucid dreams? I have had many dreams over the years. They have always been different snap shots of places and events. They never look clear to me. The picture is alway wierd when I recall it after I wake up.
A: They range from just barely dreaming to full blown better than life!

      3. How long after recording dreams, and performing some of the suggestions should I expect to have a lucid dream (I know that it depends on each person, but please tell me about your personal experience).
A: Some people have one the next night, some here have worked on it for weeks before having their first.

A: The best thing you can do is try to relax and not be too tense about it. You cannot force it!

      5. How well can you control your dreams? Can you do anything easily?
A: That depends on the level of lucidity. Sometimes you cannot control anything, sometimes you have full control over matter, time and space.

Sounds to me like you are on the right track! Just keep on doing what you are doing. AND ASK QUESTIONS!!
There are many years of experience here in this forum!

      Good luck!

Thanks for the answers and the welcome note.

42! That's wonderfull. I was so worried that I wouldn't be able to get this right. How many people on this forum that are about our age?

My name is Mohamed, and I am from Kuwait and in Kuwait right now. I lived in the States for 10 years. They were the best years of my life.

I had a dream this morning. I don't know if I should call this a lucid dream or not, but it wasn't enough.

I dreamt that I was sitting some where with a bunch of people, and the moment I started dreaming I felt that it wasn't real. I realized that I was dreaming, and I was about to slip out into reality. So I started thinking about spinging. Now, I don't know if I did spin, but the moment I though about it I came back into the dream world.

All this felt like a second. Now comes the bad part. As soon as I continued dreaming a huge dragon cought my shoulder. I could only remember it's huge claw piercing through. So I said, "Damn. I am only dreaming. Wake up!" I did!

I don't think I want to call this my first lucid dream. Too simple. Too convoluted.

      That was it.

      Moe

Moe, If you realized you were dreaming, then it was a Lucid dream.

So far, I think I am the oldest here. There is another member that served in 'Nam. So I guess there are three of us aging baby-boomers around here.
