Video thread much?
I pass judgement quick.
He's a n00b, alright.![]()
Is that real, or is it just some guy messing with people? Still, it was really funny. It fit my stereotype of a noob.![]()
unless I'm reading the dates wrong,
this is from June 2001?
Anyway,
I'm going to sound all bigoted and elitist now,
but if you must market a language to the "everyday user", then what do you expect?
the everyday user saves a word file, then can't find where it is....

Phew... Looks like I'm not so bad after all...
That guy's an A**hole...
But the replies of all the other peeps definately are the best...
I found this highly entertaining.
Thanks for the link.
/me wonders if he found all "the codes".
/me wonders if he died a painful death.

reminds me of this guy
there should be a "funny noob moments" thread in teck talk, or something
my first encounter with programming (and computers in general) was Sinclair Basic on the ZX Spectrum
(I must have been about 10, I guess)
My grandparents bought it as a christmas present
and it came with this book about games programming in basic
the book was about 4" thick, all fine print, as well
the whole book was dedicated to making a slot machine game (complete with 4-bit colour graphics)
the majority of the book was a tutorial on basic, in a series of "lessons", eventually building up into the complete game
the complete source for the game was also included in the last half-dozen pages
(6 or so pages of non-stop, fine-print text)
I didn't care about the lessons, I just wanted the game!!
now, as I said, this wasn't only my first programming experience
it was the first time I'd ever used a computer - I didn't know anything at all
I spend best part of a week typing the whole thing out from the back of this book
not knowing what I was doing
didn't understand any of it
typing complete gibberish into the machine
when I'd eventually finished,
I ran the program
I remember being really pleased with myself
"I wrote a game!!"

Haha!
My brother and I had our Dad's old PSION II organiser with it's own dialect of BASIC (as an aside I could program in BBC/QBasic pretty well as a child, but this was before that). In the manual it had a few sample program listings. There was a simple game in there, which we copied, and it was pretty good.
Longer still though was SPREADSHEET. Stretching to about ten pages, it must have been a bloody good game. So we devote some hours to copying this listing perfectly. Done, compile, no errors. Run!
Needless to say we were somewhat disappointed.

My biggest noob moment ever was the confusement by this program:
It looked so hard! Honest! lmao!Code:sync on sync rate 35 make object cube 1,1 do Yrotate object 1,.05 loop
Now i can all but speak C++. xD

I'm sorry but do I know you? And if so how? Indeed, looking back upon my ancient posts back from pixeltendo, I completely agree about being a noob and crud, but I want to know if indeed this is where you come from.... If not, please tell me the instance of my noobishness (for lack of a better word), so I can correct it.Quote:

He asked if it was a programming language, or a drawing program. Comeon. even aluseus GOD is not as big a noob.
And thanks man.
Well for one, you just necro'd a 1 and a half year thread just to gain a pointless explanation.
That might contribute.
