This may take me a while. But I will try. Damn, I hate having to think...
With all the Lateral thinking going on here on DV, I wanted to see how good you are at cracking codes. So heres the rules.
Unless you specify it, no double encryptions.
If you crack the code, you must explain how you did it.
You may post your own codes, but only after cracking the original.
And that's pretty much it!
So here's the first code:
3H 3J3G2L2D 1V3N 1F3Q2F1C1O
I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. I am the Resurrection and the Life.
I am the Light at the End of the Tunnel.
Rimor Somnium Universitas

This may take me a while. But I will try. Damn, I hate having to think...

So, is the code a phrase?
I first split the text into pairings guessing that the numbers 1 - 3 were operators of some sort. Stripping away the numbers i was left with:
H JGLD VN FQFCO
I knew H must be something like "I" or "A"..
I tried caesar cipher style addition and subtraction using the value of the numbers on the letters to see if i could make "H" into a valid character... but to no avail. After pondering for a while as to why the operators would be only 1 through 3 it suddenly hit me...
I grabbed my phone and looked at the numbers (and letters next to it):
3H - 3 taps of the key with H on gives me I
3J - 3 taps of the key with j gives me L
3G - 3 taps of the key with g gives me I
2L - 2 taps of the key with l gives me k
You get the idea...
And i ended up with:
"I LIKE TO DREAM"
Ill have to think up a cipher now

Woah...I'm going to like this stuff! Post another one!

Can I get a hint?
;__;
It's not that cipher thing is it?

"knowledge dispels fear"
Just one letter to the left on the keyboard. ie: "L" turns into "K". If the letter was already on the left, like "Q" it turned into "P" which is on the opposite side.
My code:
IO8J IH84E
This one might be difficult, I may have to give hints.

Can I get a small hint? Like how to start this off? I'm new to this code breaking stuff..
I also started to do that keyboard thing but I don't know why I stopped doing it...I must have thought I was doing something wrong.
Here's a hint; you have to do the 'keyboard thing' but it will look weird anyway because you have to do one more step to the result.

IO8J IH84E
klim knird
I GOT IT
Drink milk!
It was just a key down, then I just reversed it!
I guess that means I have to make one up now...

2GD D ABTKB IUPSDTY
Mines probably really easy![]()

I knew that since D was a standalone letter in part of the phrase, it had to be either “A” or “I.” The "2" led me to suspect a two-letters-to-the-left keyboard shift, because that would make the D an A. This gave me the following:Originally Posted by slayer
DA A ?CHEC YTI?AER
The question marks represent occurances of the two-to-the-left shift going off of the keyboard, and therefore me being confused as to what to put there.
I then tried an alphabet reversal cipher, which produced jibberish. Then I went back and looked at the results of the two-to-the-left shift, and said, “Wait a minute…”
If, instead of going off of the keyboard, I went to the right side of each line of keyboard buttons with a letter on it, the question marks would be letters and I would get…
DA A KCHEC YTILAER
…and if I safely assume that you meant to encode “DO” instead of “DA,” and if I reverse the last two “words” of the phrase, I get…
DO A REALITY CHECK
Here’s my code. Prepare to suffer:
4 DV( )ORIIOEESLAW( )( )MSC
The ( )’s represent blank spaces. You’ll see why there are two in between ORIIOEESLAW and MSC if you figure it out properly.
If no one can figure it out, I will give hints until someone can.
Here’s a bit to get you started:
The 4 is not part of the phrase. It’s an indicator of how to figure it out. But the way to figure it out is not a simple polyalphabetic cipher, nor a phone keypad or keyboard switch. This one is a bit deeper than that.

fuck, you guys are good at this

Lol yeah, I'm going to need a hint for this one...
and the ( ) confuse me...are they just spaces?

Ya, they represent blank spaces where there is no letter.
Hint:
1234
5678
etc...
Does that help?![]()

Splitting the ciphered text into blocks of 4 per line we get:
D | V | |O
R | I |I |O
E | E |S |L
A |W | |
M | S |C |
Read vertically starting from the left column we get:
"Dream views is cool"
Gimme a sec to come up with one

Ive capitalized certain letters to make it easier.![]()
Hint2: Theres no need for equipment (phones, keyboards etc) to crack this code.

Hm... Hint3?
I don geddit
Granted, I haven't spent much time on it, but usually just by looking at something I can tell if a certain method will work or not, and this seems to defy most conventional ciphers that come to mind. :rolleye:

Okay, big hint as this one is tough.
Hint3:
This requires both an addition then subtraction on a per word basis. The value to subtract by can be gleaned from the addition.
Hopefully that helps a lot.![]()
