Thread: DV Quotes

I think maybe the post should be split - move all the crap out of there and split that half into a new thread here in senseless - or just delete it, because to be fair is was a load of bullshit for the last couple of pages!

I second the notion to just delete the last like... 5 pages, and restore the thing to what it was supposed to be. And perhaps create a separate thread for DV quotes thread comments, like we have with the pictures thread.

And I'm just as guilty as anyone else. I should have just ignored ze bastards (who I still love) and their lack of funniness. *lesson learned*

There should be another thread, like DV Quotes 2.0 or something, the current one still has a very bad atmosphere to it...

In any case, there should be a quotes thread, somewhere. The idea of a seperate thread for comments is interesting, but I can`t see how that one would avoid all the same crap... Solution? DON`T QUOTE!!! The idea of quoting should be out of the question unless a truly monumental line of text is written that deserves to be honered by DV for all time. It doesn`t matter if there is only one quote a week, at least everyone can relate to it and, if at all possible, not get offended by it.

Some people were over-reacting though. It's all fun and games until someone it takes it to serious.

Question: Why was every quote in that thread recently a pathetic attempt to be funny? Not that some weren't funny, but even if all of them were I'd still be asking the same question. Its a quotes thread, what happened to someone actually saying something profound or that someone else took to heart? Something with meaning?

I do have to say though, its sad to see what was once great go down the shitter. I also support the motion to delete the last chunk of it, even if there is anything in those couple pages worth saving.

Well we can always have 2 quotes threads. Like DV Quotes and Lewd DV Quotes...

And a JD`s DV quotes for good measure...

That's been mentioned before and it seems the quoters (I am guilty of this myself) honestly believe the weak sh*t we quote is funny to us...so perhaps the decision of what's funny and what's not shouldn't rest in the quoters hands alone. I propose a solution....

I vote that a thread be started to rate quotes before they're submitted on the DV quotes thread, it is rated by at least 3 people on a 1/10 score scale. If the averaged amount is above 5 then it is worthy of being placed on the quotes thread.

That`s why I suggested a fresh start, if anyone starts of the new DV Quotes thread with something lame, he will be collectively stoned, and you know it...

The better separation is: DV Chat quotes and DV Forum quotes.

I myself posted a quote during the recent uprising, it was from the forum, and it was funny/fun and innocent, in the spirit that the thread originated with and survived for ages with.

In essence, aside from DV chat seemingly always being full of unmodest content, it's...chat. Be it chat on the forum, IRC or any other: chat spawns far more "quotable" moments than a forum does and in turn they are less effective but in large amounts.

So, aye, separate the chat and the forum quotes and all shall be at peace once more.

I don't like the rating quotes idea. I don't see how it would solve anything if the same 4 people keep voting for quotes that only they think are worthy.

Having a separate thread for discussion of quotes will solve problems, I definitely think. At least if people want to argue about quotes, they can do it without burying the actual quotes.

I have to say I still support the ratings thread but I can see how the ratings "could" be monopolized by friends of the quoters as you mentioned mes, so I would have to say I'm more in favor of spartiates idea. DV Quotes and Lewd DV Quotes was it?
