The colors duke, the colors!

+ Banana

Look at my avatar and signature!

OMG OMG!!! colours!!!!!

Not really. The avatar is predominantly dark shades and at least 30% black with the silhouette of the wolf and the rock he's standing on. That's not even taking into account the near-black shades found in the moon and sky. In fact, the only colourful part of your avatar at all is the subtle light blue highlight that gives the wolf his glow. Considering the only other distinct colour at all (save for the hat) is another, darker and more subdued shade of blue, the image actually appears rather monochrome. It's hard to be monochrome and colourful at the same time. Of course you'll point out the hat, which I'd respond is so small as to scarcely add anything at all. Further, that which it does "add" (a solid, bright red) seems highly out of place given the rest of the colour scheme.
As for "happy" I would contest this point as well. Largely on the grounds of the symbolism of the wolf howling at the full moon, which harkens to horror movies and other such stories meant to induce fear. The term "lone wolf" also comes to mind, which as we all know conveys that the one referenced as such is a loner (at least in a given task), but usually seems to imply a certain sort of brooding attitude as well. It goes without saying that neither brooding nor loneliness come even close to being synonyms for happy. Additionally, the moon itself is often used as a metaphor for melancholy. The blue shades seem to emphasize this reference. In fact, historically the moon has been the subject of many negative associations. It wasn't that long ago that lunacy was attributed to being struck by the moon's rays. I can't say for certain why this is so, but if I had to take a guess, I'd wager it's related to the fact that the moon usually is only visible at night (which, incidentally, this picture appears to be at). I suppose it's probably the association we have with the darkness. Darkness > the unknown > confusion > insanity. Who knows?
All I can really be certain of are that "happy" and "colourful" are two adjectives which here do not apply.

Way to come in and make him feel bad![]()

aww cmon, the red in is is so red it hurts
if a RED xmas hat can't make something happy, nothing else can
now let's judge my sig plx !__!

I've taken a close look at both sides of the argument. I've been swayed. It isn't all that colorful...

I'm diagnosing you (both). The answer is: you are both colourblind, so you can't see the true truth within. It's all made up of colours![]()

Typical passive, fence-sitting Gestalt.

What can I say I was honestly deceived by the red hat. That one SOLID sea of color that bursts from the pixilated screen to become a delightful spec on your eye. It's further magnified by the darkness around and, in effect, makes it more intense than it would have been in a different, lighter, setting. The very shape of the hat draws the eye in curiosity, it's intensity augmented by the white of the cap. As for the wolf giving a melancholy and terrifying feel? Nonsense. The hat alone instantly instills in the viewer that, even should the wolf be in such a dark and dreary land, it is nothing but a parody of terror. Parodies are funny, and depressed evil wolves do not wear hats.
And that, ma'am , is why it is colorful and happy. (Crap, I changed sides again..)
All that nonsense you've been carrying around must've broke the fence, resulting in you falling on the wrong side.

I think I'm gonna add snow

You should invert the colors so the wolf is white.
I'm not sure what avoision you're imagining, but I have addressed all the issues in your post.
See "out of place".
Pixilated screen? It probably appears pixilated due to a low resolution, which likely results from an outdated monitor. Older monitors often provide inferior colour, resulting in a skewed appearance. I'll chalk your apparent dissent up to technical issues and let it slide this time. My monitor, however, is crystal clear and provides perfect colour display. Just take my word for it.

I actually think it would be cool to make the Christmas hat a silhouette like the wolf - it would blend in more.
But I have a feeling you would object to a more monochrome motif. (assonance, baby!)

Lol really nice suggestion the gnome. But I am so good at photoshop that I'll just go and make something terribly beautiful and cool and everybody will look at it and compliment me for my work. Not. xD
@ mark: even in LCD I can see the pixels. Actually, it is even made clearer by a thin border sepparating each pixel. Not to mention the fuzzy contrast. Not that old monitors are any better than this, but LCD is for sure not flawless
No, Gestalt, you don't need to post anymore ^^
