      Pokemon.

I thought about putting this in the extended discussion forum.

My question is, why are pokemon the only things that can be put in pokeballs? Why can't humans be put in them? Can you

I say whatever the next pokemon show is right now should include humeballs.

If they could put humans in the balls, it would throw into sharp relief the fact that they basically make the pokemon beat each other almost to the point of passing out, then imprison them until they have another chance to force them to fight. It's basically Cockfighting: The Game. Awesome.

Can someone move this to R/S? It seems like it should belong there.

I think "humanballs" is a better term.

      lol humanballs

If humans could go into the balls, who would let them out? It would just be a show consisting of 2 balls, one pokeball and one humanball, and nothing would happen.

I think, actually, according to the games, the technology for storing items in the PC is the same technology used for storing pokémon in pokéballs. And all the items you find lying on the ground are stored in pokéballs. I don't know about humans, though, but there was that one episode where Ash and co. go into the PC system, so maybe they can be stored in pokéballs too.
      Not today.

Seriously, Do you think the method of pc item storage would have any effect on conscious beings? Pokemon would be an exception here, it's just a game anyways.

Used to be objects could be stored in pokeballs, as directly referenced in at least two of the manga series, and as implied by the items kept in round pokeball-patterned containers in the original games. It's been unsure if they actually were pokeballs, since more recent games such as XD have had pokeball-pattenrned boxes, and the DS games had yellow boxes the same shape as in XD.

Anyway, I expect that pokeballs are, in the present of the anime and probably most games, set up specificaly to capture pokemon, and would not work on humans or items (like how a multi-format media player could play MP3s, WMA, and WMP, but an iPod is set up to play only MP3). (Also, it could be the backpack works like a multi-use pokeball, with each pocket having a reusable set of energy compactors. How else could you fit 99x30 pokeballs in just one pocket, even in shrunked mode, or 99x25 potion bottles?)

Yes. They have languages, and can understand the idea of the self. (at least, if team rocket's Meowth is both normal aside from speaking human, and not lying about other pokemon)
