      be prepared: senseless clean-up coming!

      just wanted to let ya'll know i'll be undertaking a little banter cleaning shortly. basically, i want our post count on the main page to mean something so i don't want senseless banter to be contributing quite so much (it currently has 30 000 posts and has eclipsed every other forum). anyway, i'd imagine most of the games will go, esp. those involving very short posts (they use a lot of database space anyway, plus lead to irrelevant search results), and will suggest that games in the future require worthwhile (a reasonable length, in this case) replies.

      my goal is to remove 10 000 posts, so some older banter topics will possibly be axed as well; i will also be clearing posts from the 'new user arrival forum' (that most of you cannot see) which will account for about 2 or 3 thousand or so posts of my goal.


      oh...i'll try to keep some sort of a record in each game to at least state how many replies and views it achieved.


      on a side note, Gen. Discussion is only 10 posts away from The Lounge (they both have just over 26 300 posts) so i guess, other than senseless banter, we have a reasonable balance on the forum.
      Each new day is a chance to turn it all around.

      I imagine if I went through the adoptions forum, there would be quite a few that don't need to be there. Doubt it would make much of a dent in your overall goal, but it would at least make it look nicer.

      Another good idea that i submitted about a year ago (it got lost somewhere) is that we strip down the formatting in senseless banter to a mainly text-based and table-based thing (mostly an imageless version), that way people dont leech bandwidth with incomprehensible buffoonery.

      I think all the old inactive threads should be removed, because I don't think anyone really cares for those. I've understood that in LD4all they have some kind of automatical cleanup system in their similar to "Senseless Banter" forum that deletes all the posts that are over 1 month old. That could be handy here too.
