I am going on the integer definition of divides, i.e. a | b (a divides B) if there exists an integer k such that a*k = b. (1+sqrt(3))^n is only an integer when n = 0. An integer times an irrational number is going to remain irrational. The trivial case is the only hope. 2^m divides 1 for all m < 1. Of course, when m < 0, then 2^m is a rational number So m=0 is the highest power of 2.

Let m = n = 0. Then (2^0)*1=((1+sqrt(3))^0), i.e. 1 | 1.

Or you can just double the previous number, and then subtract one.
a_n+1 = 2*a_n + 1, then there is an immediate formula for the next number, which is 2^(n-1) +1.

I lady gave me that test once, JFK took it too. I think I was off by about 2 minutes of beating him.

If you figure it out, its supposed to mean you are a visionary. Record how long it takes you in time as well, it be funner so you can compare to others

I think people talk of this puzzle as introduced by Albert Einstein. He said 98% of the people cant solve this. This is needs some patience. I used the trial and error method to solve it. Any how I am not posting the answer. If you want the answer, just google search "Who owns the fish". Or try it urself. Are you in the top 2% of world ???

Yes, I did that a couple of months ago... It took me half an hour or so to do, but it made my brain sizzle. I heard that Einstein did introduce it. I can't remember what the answer was... besides it'll give everyone else a chance to work it out.
Yes, I've also heard it means you're in the top two percentage of intelligence. Coincidentally my IQ is 136; over 130 is the top 2 percent of intelligence.

Thats interesting, last I took the iq test it was 131 yet I did the puzzle in about 22 minutes if I remember correctly.
