Thread: What's worse- Blind or Deaf?

I'd want to be deaf if I had to choose.

Deaf...I see it all, and I can still talk to you.

Sign Language>Braille.

It would be a bummer but id definitely want to be able to see...

It'd be very hard to communicate when deaf, and I wouldn't be able to listen to my music anymore...

Remeber what the music sounds like. Remember your songs n stuff.

Imagine going to a concert but not be able to watch it...or never seeing
a breath-taking view again or a beautiful face or your children's faces or
grandchildren....nope id rather be deaf! I knew a deaf girl and she could
still dance by feeling the bass beat in the floor i guess and probably in
headphones as well.....id miss my music also but id rather be able to see!
You can also set up security lights that blink very brightly on and off when
someone invades your home....then at least if that happens you can at least
see who it is or hide from them or run or....

I dont know. I love sight, but i love music.

Tbh it would probably be hearing that i'd choose to loose but its close.

Thought either would stop me from being able to achieve my wanted profession.

Without putting a lot of thought into it, I'd rather be blind. I just could not live without music. Just remembering what it sounds like would never be enough, I listen to music pretty much nearly 24/7, besides the time I sleep, and it always makes me feel good, and I'm sure my life would be miserable without it.

I would choose to be deaf. Purely for the reason that I literally cannot survive in a mentally stable state without being able to read. I know how to read music, and I could have someone arrange coded flashes of light to go along with a sort of karaoke machine lyrics thing so that I could synthesize the song in my head, and that woul take care of the music. But if all of my reading was restricted to Braille, I would literally be unable to survive as my self. It would also be incredibly difficult to surf the forums if I was blind, and I could do so with ease beign deaf. I would definitely choose deafness, as total blindness, for me, would be worse than death. And I am not exaggerating.

Blind.

I don't know how anyone could choose anything other than Deaf.

It's a reality for me. I have poor periphiral so I'm legally blind.

I think the best sense to lose would be smell. However in this choice it would have to be death! Although it would be horrible lose hearing some sounds but then again it would be good as you could see where you're going and still live a good quality of life or, well, better quality than a blind person.

Either way, I'm sure you'd adapt.

I can learn to lip read. And most movies and video games have subtitles nowadays anyways.

Ugh, I'd hate to go blind. Can't watch movies or play video games anymore. I'd have to listen to radio dramas to get anywhere close to movies.

You could go to the movies. You would just need a tape player
