10 on coolness. They give you pain meds w00t.

Depends. Some they have to rip open your gums. Some they just simply remove the tooth.


Anesthesia either way is a win/win situation imo.

yeah, mine havent come through yet, so they are going to have to cut into the gums...lame. i only have three, though.

I guess if you don't have an adult tooth on one tooth socket you don't have wisdom teeth.. Or so my orthodontist says.

They two wisdom teeth in my lower jaw is on the way, the dentist said one week ago that one of them would come free, and the second was uncertain.

I've been very lucky in that all my wisdom teeth came through pain free and are fine, although they caused some over crouding of my other teeth, which I'm not correcting with braces

A few friends have had them removed though, said it was painful, and if they get infected, are more painful.

It's nothing... I had one of my wisdom teeth removed just today...

It really is nothing. I myself wouldn't believe everyone telling me how 'nothing' it really was, until I experienced it myself.

Even the anaesthetics didn't hurt, to be honest... They go in with some sort of a needle-thing, (apparently) stick it in your gums, press a button, and then your tongue goes all tingly... (And just to help you from your dream: the "drugs" are anaesthetics... They most likely won't get you high or something. They get you to not feel the pain... That's all they do... So no tripping for you )

So that was kind of a pleasant surprise for me... Even more so when they came up with OMG!! F*CKING SCISSORS!!! to cut open a piece of flesh that was hanging all over my tooth, I was scared like hell thinking something like "omg!! this is soooo gonna hurt".

So there I lay, eyes closed (yeah, I'm a big wuss), and I just kept thinking 'so when are they going to cut?'... ...And then they were done already -_-'
Didn't notice a thing...

Well... That was nice... But after that the real fun began... He began pushing and pulling on the bugger. But long live anaesthetics! It didn't hurt, although it did feel as if some madman wanted to push my face throught the chair . And about all the 'cracking' noises people make when they imitate a dentist pulling teeth? Yeah, it's total bogus too... There's no sound at all... Just some dude pushing your head through the chair...

And then came the neat bit... You know all those movies or cliche images you have in your mind where some guy's getting their tooth taken out, and the dentist goes in with this huge pair of pliers? Well, that happens... So there I am, waiting for that inevitable huge jerk that you see in the movies, where the tooth comes flying out... Still with my eyes closed, by the way...

And it didn't even happen. There was no jerk. He apparently just gently lifted the tooth out of its socket... There was no feeling at all... They just said "Well, that one's out." And I opened my eyes, and there it was.
I didn't even notice it...

It's kind of creepy when you think about it... It's like your mouth isn't even there O_o


Yeah... So while the entire story sounds all painful, scary and gory, the only thing you should really worry about is you almost fainting from the nerves when you get out of the chair...

So, in all seriousness: how bad is it on a scale from 1-10? A one. Definately. The only thing bad about it are your own nerves...

Ahh my brother has to get put under... You're lucky the needle didn't hurt. I had a baby tooth removed for my braces and it felt like he shoved it through my gum, out the back side. The actual removal was pretty cool.

I got mine taken out a couple years ago. The first thing they did was put the oxygen-looking hose up to my face...the next thing I remember I'm at Jamaba Juice with my step-mom, and then wal-greens picking up some hydrocodine.

well, its over. they put me under, and i dont remember a thing. its not too bad right now, but i have a head wrap full of ice on. took about an hour, but i didnt even notice. the seditives were aweseome. i should be getting my pain killers soon

well, i got them out. they gave me sedatives through an iv, then i remember staggaring out while of the clinic. i ve jsut been chilling at home, and the downside: the Vicodin doesnt seem to work. im am in quite a bit of pain, and it wont go away...i need some stronger medication.

Yeah... They have... -_-. About six hours before I wrote that, I think...
Still: there was no dope for me.

I do have to correct myself... Apparently anaesthetics can actually get you pretty doped up, but not the ones I got.

Oh well...

Now my breath stinks like hell -_-'. Hope it's not an infection or something.


And you... You were totally put under?? O_O Holy cow, that must've been one bloody big operation, there.

I got mine out a few months ago and the pain went away the next day. The first day of getting them out was pretty painful.
