      The Word "Whatever"!!!!

Do any of you have a pet peeve to this word, especially when used in conversation?? Or maybe it depends on how it's used. A friend of mine used to use it a lot, and it annoyed the hell outta me, almost making me angry each time. Could be the person, hehe. Wut about you guys?

I don't use it that often so that when I do it has an added effect... and so that people who know me also know I'm being sarcastic. It does irk me when people use it seriously, though. It's just petty and shows a lack of imagination that you can't come back with a better retort.

when a word annoys me and my sister, we take the piss out of it-

'Whatever' is one of our favorites. We use it regularly when messing around, only first we shortened it down chav-style.

If you were to over hear us, it now comes out as "Yea! 'Tev man; 'tev!"

      eh twatever.

What really drives ME crazy is when people say irregardless. They think they are being all fucking smart and using a big word...well dumbasses it's not a word...it doesn't exist....STOP USING IT!!!

I have a teacher who uses it on a daily basis and it's funny everyone in the class looks at me when she says it because they know it drives me nuts and I just have to shake my head and laugh at her stupidity.

I hate that when you make a good argument. You'd make a perfect point and they will reply with "whatever", and you come off with the feeling that they think they just 1-upped you.

      ir·re·gard·less Audio pronunciation of \"irregardless\" ( P ) Pronunciation Key (r-gärdls)
      adv. Nonstandard

      Regardless.

[Probably blend of irrespective, and regardless.]

Usage Note: Irregardless is a word that many mistakenly believe to be correct usage in formal style, when in fact it is used chiefly in nonstandard speech or casual writing. Coined in the United States in the early 20th century, it has met with a blizzard of condemnation for being an improper yoking of irrespective and regardless and for the logical absurdity of combining the negative ir- prefix and -less suffix in a single term. Although one might reasonably argue that it is no different from words with redundant affixes like debone and unravel, it has been considered a blunder for decades and will probably continue to be so.

Well, since I don't really talk to people outside of my best friends and family, I never use or even really hear it.....But...I hate it when people say 'Specific' as "pacific'. Holy hell that pisses me off!! I had a teacher who said it all the time, and I always made it a point to say "Don't you mean specific?" when she pronounced it as 'pacific'.

I usually say "Whatever you want." That usually pisses people off. I say this when people ask me what I want to do. If someone says whatever it obviously shows they don't care and are not intelligent enough to hold a good conversation.

yesh well nina and i have modified it to twatever to make it more sexciting and i cunt believe you people would even talk poorly of such a versatile word. perhaps i'm crazy. perhaps i have some sort of crazy eye infucktion. but i find it recockulous, regardless, and you should all apologize for being angry at 3 very innocent yet over-used syllables [the first syllable is the best]. :shakehead2:

p.s. this is what the alphabet would look like if q and r were eliminated

p.p.s. dirty minds foster dirty thoughts... dirty thoughts lead to happy nights... happy nights lead to tiresome mornings... and tiresome mornings lead to tired minds.

I agree with all of that.

Pet peeve phrase: "out of random"
Where the heck did that come from? If you just use "randomly" it'd save time and grief. *shakes fist at stupid high schoolers at another forum*

regrading 'like' i use that all the time, but not usually when i'm having a serious conversation, then i use proper english...
words that peeve me off...i can't think of one!
i tend to use 'whatever' when i get really angry with someone...stops me losing my rag at them.

I don't really get peeved by things people do, but it always makes me laugh when someone says supposedly with a b instead of a d.
