if you fill it up half way - it's half full. if you empty it halfway it's half-empty.

if you don't know wether how it got to be half. if you see specks of water around the rim it's half empty. if you don't see the specks. it's been VERY CAREFULLY filled up halfway rendering it - half full!

But how many times have you ever heard the person specify which variable they're talking about? Are they asking if the glass is half full with water or air?

If it's half-full with water, the air is half-empty. If you're emptying the water, halfway, it's half-full with air.

my glass is half full even when I have halfly emptied it.

Not that I'm an optimistic person, on the contrary... I just don't like wasting my time on two syllable words.

As if it were to be taken in a literal sense.............

What are the physiological implications of your answer?

The whole half full/ half empty thing is rediculous anyway. It has nothing to do with being optomistic or pessimistic, it just depends on how you talk. I've always been a pessemist, and to me a glass is half full - it doesn't mean i'm optomistic, it's just how I say it.

What? You mean, something can be two things at once?

This is basically what I think.

I have a VERY pessimistic friend. His outlook on life is. "Not only is the glass half empty, someone has put poison in it as well"

I prefer to think of it in a more Zen-like matter. "The glass just is"
you must be the change you wish to see in the world...
