"Living the moment" is what seems to be wise for me a lot !
I like your sig "98% of my time I'm either smoking pot ....."

My dad seems such a sober person most of the Time. However sometimes he totally stupifies me with the wisest hebrew sayings. I remember I was being inpatient while in his car, being irritated by other traffic and people driving S L O W. He told me: ''Allon, it's better to loose one minute in your life that to loose your Life in one Minute''
very true and nicely said. Also things like ''You won't scare a hooker with a Penis'' as a parallel to many situations in life were certain actions or words won't impress or affect someone. There's much more where that came from and that I cannot instantly recall right now. But I'll post them here too when they pop up into my head again or when I'll see my dad again. Thursday I'll be checking out Synthesizers at the Local musicians store. I'll ask him about them.
I love simple words that have sooo much more to them when said in the Right context. Any of you know such sayings? do share them with me.

My quote of the day is
Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
great one!Yeah my Sig actually speaks the truth
Yeah living the Moment is a great one indeed. Too many people let life pass them by and only long for those good times they know from Memories. But if they were to live conciously they would be much more joyfull thinking: " yeah this is one of the greatest moments of my Life'' WHEN it is actually happening

The time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time.
Bertrand Russell
I like, "Two things one should never be mad about, what he can help and what he can't." by Plato, it's cooled my temper down every time.
My favourite would have to be "Time Goes On..." just because it pretty much sums up life. You could get in big, big, big trouble, but in two months it's all over and everything's back to normal. You could move across the globe, leaving your friends and family behind, but time would go on and eventually your life would pick up back where it left off.
Starry starry night, paint your pallet blue and gray,
Look out on a summers day,
with eyes that know the darkness of my soul.
Good one fellas. I wish there was some way I could remember them all.
I have always heard, I will believe it when I see it. After so much talk of lucidity , clairvoyance and philosophical reasoning, I one day realized it could also be - I will see it when I believe it.![]()
"let thou who spills man's blood by man shall his blood be spilled"
-Genesis

These are some of my favorite examples of tons said by a few words...
"Some will rob you with a six gun, and some with a fountain pen." -- Woody Guthrie
"Love is just a four letter word." -- Bob Dylan (quoting a character in his song)
"I wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then." -- Bob Seeger
"You cannot strenthen the weak by weakening the strong." -- Abraham Lincoln
"The world will still be turning when you're gone." -- Black Sabbath
Yeah exactly man. This is exactly the thought that keeps me positive in bad times and keeps me going.
Only my quote for that is simpler: ''Good Times bad Times'' and knowing Nothing ever stays the same and everything constantly changes I have learned to accept that good times will pass, but so will bad times. Only to be replaced by new Good and Bad times.
''Nothing lasts Forever'' is a personal quote of mine. Funny how some people see that as a negative Idea, some as a positive Idea and I see it is both Positive and Negative.
I read a Jewish book full of these types of sayings & Wisdom and there was one story that had the same Moral behind it as the ''Tim goes on'' & ''Nothing Lasts foreever'' -Idea. I'll make the story a little shorter for you guys:
The Wealthy King asked his Humble Servant to get him a Golden Ring with an inscription ingraved to it that would make an Unhappy man Smile when he reads it and a Happy man feel sad when he reads it.
The Humble Servant had no Idea where to get that type of ''Magical'' Ring, but his King Insisted that he'd Find him one.
And so he went looking for it anyway. Weeks passed and he didn't find it. The King Still insisted.
Then one Day the King's Humble Servant was walking down the Market area in Jerusalem and came into an Old merchant's shop where a Golden Ring caught his eye. He layed down the money the King gave him and Bought the Ring. He proceeded to the Jeweler to have the Inscription engraved into it. He said: "Engrave something into the Ring that will make an unhappy man happy when he reads it and an happy man feel sad when he reads it''. ''Okay'' Said the Jeweler and he engraved the inscription and gave the Ring back to the King's Servant. He looked at the Inscription on the Ring.
It Said: '' Even These Times will not last forever''. The Servant Smiled when he Read it, knowing that even these times, where he was merely a Humble Servant, would come to pass and be replaced by better days.
He immediately went back to The King's Citadel and brought hs King the Ring he had bought. The King was happy to see that his Servant had actually found the Ring he was Looking for. He read the Inscription on the Ring: '' Even these times will not last forever '' and he felt sad and angry, knowing that even these times, of his Glorious, Rich Kingship, would come to pass and be replaced by days of lesser luck and Trouble.[/b]
It's funny how some people will indeed smile uppon hearing my Quote: ''Nothings lasts forever'' and others feel kind of Down by the thought.
If you're having a bad day, week or even month, then uppon hearing "Nothing Lasts Forever'' you will think it means that these bad days will come to pass and better days will be comming anyway. It's a calming easing, positive thought.
When you're living a happy life, the Good days, Then uppon hearing: ''Nothing Lasts Forever'' you will think it means loosing all the happyness and good factors in your current life when it's your time to have some bad luck. It's an uneasy, stressing, Negative thought.
Kinda depends on your current Mood and state of Mind what it means to you. It's a good way of becomming conciously aware of wether you are Currently happy or unhappy(Most people don't always really Conciously know) and had certain feelings below the surface you weren't aware of before.
Funny eh?

There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — bubbabubbayou can't get fooled again.
Great saying.

“If you have an apple and I have an apple and we exchange these apples then you and I will still each have one apple. But if you have an idea and I have an idea and we exchange these ideas, then each of us will have two ideas.” (or better yet: three...)

No theory, no ready-made system, no book that has ever been written will save the world. I cleave to no system. I am a true seeker. - Mikhail Bakunin
Insanity in individuals is something rare - but in groups, parties, nations and epochs, it is the rule. --Nietzsche
It is simplicity that makes the uneducated more effective than the educated when addressing popular audiences. -- Aristotle
Ignorance, the root and the stem of every evil. -- Plato
A friend is one before whom I may think aloud. -- Ralph Waldo Emerson
Shake off all the fears of servile prejudices, under which weak minds are servilely crouched. Fix reason firmly in her seat, and call on her tribunal for every fact, every opinion. Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason than that of blindfolded fear. -- Thomas Jefferson

Briljant in it's simplicity and truth:
''If it's Stupid but it works...It ain't Stupid''
This is an Encouraging saying teaching you Not to become discouraged to do whatever you're doing by the criticism of others.I guess it's a good way of saying that no matter how stupid people think your ideas and plans are, no matter how badly they redicule you for it: If it works for you non of that critiscism should matter.
I love it cuz it's so short and so encouraging to go and be yourself, no matter what ''they'' say.

Another good one:

I like that one really!

The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself. -- Nietzsche
