Thread: Any Lucid dreams also Tool fans?

I am, but I only have Undertow at the moment. I heard they're recording some new stuff. I can't wait to hear it.

I am a big tool fan. Aenima is their best album in my openion Im also all over APC.

I think Aenema was the worst album. Please don't insult my mother because of this. It was good, but I like Undertow and Lateralus much more, as well as the APC albums.

I saw a tool video once and was... disturbed.. Parabola it was called Im pretty sure, It must have had so much meaning behind it, but I couldnt find much, little things, I did see though

Tool videos are very artistically done, much like Pink Floyd's The Wall. There is a lot of symbolic imagrey going on there. For example, if you watch the video for Prison Sex, you will notice a number of artistic references to rape (the missing vaginas on the dolls, the twisted phallus, the crumbling dolls, dust, feeling dirty, simulated sex with the eyeless skull, etc.). That's one of the things that really draws me to Tool. I love bands that write music with a deeper meaning. Musicians (and I do not use the term lightly) like Tool, Tori Amos, Pink Floyd, and Nine Inch Nails are very similar in that respect. They aren't just randomly writing, they're writing about the deep, dark things that any 'normal' human would shy away from. Their work is poetry because poetry is raw emotion, unfiltered. And they present it so well.

There was a time that the pieces fit, but I watched them fall away.
Mildewed and smoldering, strangled by our coveting
I've done the math enough to know the dangers of our second guessing
Doomed to crumble unless we grow, and strengthen our communication.

I thought I had the meaning when I thought:

the world is crumbling, everything that we thought was true was basically fake, or a lie. Everything is changing. And its saying that reality is that we are responsible forit with our coveting. we're never happy no matter what. And that technology is advanced, but socially, we are all left behind..


Thats what I got out of it, but when I look at those words written there, it looks like so much more... Theres something Im missing, and I know it. It's just not written in the words, but behind them. Thanks a lot, man
