      stealing lyrics...?

      ok not exaclty. many times while listening to a song that I don't know the words to, I'll think they're saying something really cool, but I look up their lyrics and find out they're saying something totally different. my question is...would it be wrong to use what you thought they were saying in your poems/lyrics? I would think it depends on how you feel about it...I wouldn't feel very origianal...but I doubt it's actually WRONG. er...thoughts?

      well for one example, I have Dimmu Borgir's 'Stormblast' which is all in Norwegian. I think "hm, that's sounds like (whatever) in English. that might make a cool line in a poem" so...TOTALLY different.

      I've had that 'Those are cool lyrics then look it up to find out they are crap' thing happen to me before so I know what you mean.

      It's perfectly fine to use it if it's not really what they said. If someone wrote a song saying 'I know Tom Green humped the dead moose ', and you thought they said 'Eenow Tomgrin bumped the dead goose '. No one's really going to care because it's different.

      It's not stealing because you gathered that that's what they said in your head, you thought of it.
      The best times of your life should not be when you're still so young, or else you'll live a life always dreaming of the past.

      Nope, not stealing. If there is a dutch song, for instance, and it says something like:

      "Freeinch erick falm" (I can't do dutch)
      And you interpret as:
      "French Erotic Film"

      It isn't really stealing, is it?
      It's more like an "adventure in mistranslation"

      I know that song. In fact, I've seen them all so many times I can usually tell people wether or not I've seen them just by looking at the link (which I did right now).
