i think those tattoo shows really suck... at least once every episode you get some tool saying "i want to get this coy fish because my grandfather died in a car crash... and he would totally dig it" ...

get one if it's going to be a solid part of your life... my point... i would consider getting my family crest... i would consider getting the birth-death dates of my loved ones... i would consider putting my own art work on me... but i would not go to a tattoo shop and ask them to construct something that's going to stain my body for my lifetime.

just think about it.

I have a tattoo on my leg, it's a Murcury foot (the track symbol,) I've been running all my life though so I doubt that I'll regret it ever. I know lots of girls that have tattoos, mostly on their lower back.

And yes, those ankle bracelett charm type of tats are cute, but hardly seems worth the effort unless it is something special like your mercury thing.

Oh, and I'd like to apologize if I offended anyone. I am sure I did but I had to be blunt and ask the question and I did not know a nice way to ask it. I think the girl on Miami Ink is a talented tatooer and I loved that portrait she did of this guy's daughter on his arm. Was so cute. And I do not think badly of her because of her tats and style, I feel that as long as you are a good person you can tat or dress wierd or whatever, doesn't mean you are a bad person.

I just particularly do not want to be that way. Or maybe I do and I am afraid or not young enough who knows.

Sorry. I'll try to be nicer. And another thing, I'd be the first to say anyone has the right to dress wierd even if I didn't like it myself. FREEDOM.

So, I had a thought. What is this paper that they use to make a drawing on your arm? And is there a way to use this paper to make a full color tattoo like one of those temporary things you get from the bubblegum machine?

That's a good thought. Permanent tatoos are rather pointless. If you want some sort of art on your body - why make it permanent? If you want it for a long time, you can still get something temporary drawn, then get it redrawn after it fades or what not. It just makes more sense.

I don't want to buy from any online company that I don't know though. Neat that this stuff exsists though.

Anyway, I haven't regretted one day of having my tattoo and am actually thinking about getting some more later. Some people do regret it, though, so think long and hard as to what you want. And, for your own sake, please take wrinkledge and saggage caused by old age into account. Sure, the whole barbed wire around the bicep (as a man) or lowerback thingy (as a woman) may look cool when you are 20 and in shape, but most likely won't look too cool when you are pushing 60. I'd start with something small and in a place not visible with work attire, otherwise a professional career is pretty much out of the question.

Yes, because all semi-permanent tatoos last a day long. </sarcasm>

Yeah, the wrinkle thing. You are right. Thank You for reminding me. Think I'll not get a real tat then. If I can get this printer paper then that'd be cool. It might even stay for several days if the area is rubbed with anti persperant before applying and then rub some on top.

ummm, i know plenty of very high maintance beautifull girls, (not trash whores) That have tattoos.

I want ones too, unfortunaitily i cant get what i wanted becuase its too unprofessional for my job. I wanted to get "live" going down my left tricept, "&" On the back of my neck (upper back) and "love" on my right tri.

Hey...I heard that the miami ink show people that actually do the tattoos aren't actually there when not shooting. It's like, they only come in to do the show. My friend was looking to get one there and that's what she came up with. There are these other people that work there when there's no shooting.

I'm young, but, I once thought about getting a rose on my back, but, decided that no, I don't, cause, well, I know I'd regret it.

I think that is the most important thing before getting a tattoo... is waiting a long time to make sure you know what you want, that your thoughts on that issue are still consistent, and to make sure it wasn't just something you thought was cool at that moment. Also, a lot of people end up wishing the tattoo was a little bit bigger/smaller, or positioned a little differently. A good advice I read, was to apply a temporary-tattoo-copy of the exact same tattoo you are trying to get, then wear it for a day. That way you get to "test-drive" it and make sure you like its position and size. Hope that helps.

Not meaning to jack the thread, but I've been thinking of getting a tattoo myself for quite a while. This past year, my idea is pretty solid that I want something about lucid dreaming, and fairly small, but I have no idea what I could do with that. I'm still thinking,
and it'll be a while until I do get a tattoo, but if anyone has some good ideas, let me know...

i have a tattoo on the centre of my back, its something very personal to me as my dad designed it for me and it is an original - one off in the world.

i thing that what people have said here is right, in that it has to be something with real meaning to you on a deep level, otherwise you will completely regret it. but saying that 'oh your gonna get wrinkly and regret it' - i think thats bull, why live your life wondering what you thing of your body when your 80??? for one you might not get that far and will have sacrificed the enjoyment, adrenalin rush and huge satisfaction of getting a tat, and secondly if your the kind of person interested in tattoos now, i really dont think you will give a damn about your tattoo not looking perfect when your old, your gonna be wrinkly all over anyway!!!

i say think about it carefully then go for it, you only have this body once and tattooing is the ultimate in personalisation - your body is a canvas as well as a temple.
