Nice, Ranma. Are you actually studying, or is it something you're picking up yourself? Tiger is probably my favorite Kung Fu form (I don't speak from experience, only from what I know about it). I'd say work on planting yourself a bit more, and really solidifying each movement - but this comes with long-term practice, so don't think I expect everything to be perfect right off the bat. Heh. How long have you been practicing? Looking good, so far.
I'm reminded of Kill Bill (which I was watching all last night), because Tiger/Crane is the style that she uses. Was that your inspiration at all for combining the two?

Well I'm self studying right now with a DVD. So, of course theres some mistakes in it. Could you elaborate a bit more on planting myself, and solidifying each movement? I've been practicing on and off for about a year now. Thanks for your input. I do try to put power into each move.
I got inspired from the Kung Pow movie which was originally Tiger and Crane. I was browsing DVD's on a website and saw the title "Tiger and crane instructional DVD" i knew right then i had to buy it. It's the same type of style you see in a lot of 70's kung fu classics.

I would say work on doing each move as its own, complete movement a little more. Each attack/stance/defense should have a snap to it that shows it to be grounded. (Again, this is just my relating what I know from my own karate experience to what I see in your video. I may be completely wrong, and the DVD may teach a certain fluidity that I'm not taking into account.) Your transitions from move to move seem (only sometimes) a little rushed, as if you're focusing more on the combination than on each movement on its own - if that makes any sense. It does looks much better when you're doing it slow, so it's not to say you have no grasp of it, but really make sure you tighten those limbs when you're doing each motion. When you do the more isolated moves (like just moving a single arm into a position) it often seems like you're just kinda "going through the motions and just moving from move to move" than actually putting your all into each movement. This is just something that will eventually get better, the more and more you practice.
But even though you have the routine down, be sure to go through it movement by movement. Repeat the same movement over and over - one position to another, back again, and forward again, section by section. This way, you'll be sure you are getting full extension and full tension on each action. Each subtle movement should show a full dedication to it. Work on this first, and after you get technique down, so that every move is fully involved, then work on speed.
Kind of a crude explanation. Never really tried explaining technique before. If I was still too vague, let me know.
And I can't believe that, after all these years, I've still never seen Kung Pow.

I Understand what you are saying. And your are right to some extent. I should focus on each move. But the DVD also teaches that once the moves are natural they must have both rigidness and fluidity. One move flowing into the other. The idea behind tiger crane is power concealed in motion - so in essence it has to be fluid, yet strong. And your right, I should be making each move with power. Because only streangth knows how to be gentle... i guess.
The concept of the form is both hardness and softness. The tiger representing hardness. And the Crane representing the softness. The two combined harmonises liek the yin yang i guess.
And i just tried your advice, and i can feel how your advice helps. even going through the first sections of the form requires intense exertion. I am usually panting by the time i finish.

Some videos I made with my friends, they're not that good. I only edited the main video for the ShamNow one, my friend edited the other one, added all those stupid intro things, I don't know why he does that :\
Thanks for the embedding instructions, no-name.
