Clonazepam

My dream was about the drug clonazepam, a benzodiazepine.

I was speaking to a female doctor about this drug. There was another doctor there too, also a woman - both were wearing white uniforms. I guess they could have been nurses or one could have been, but I feel more like they were doctors. I was shown a piece of parer, there were two A4 sheets. [A4 is a normal size piece of paper used for letters http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_216 .] There was a list with lots of side effects / undesirable effects, one highlighted was something like "you may have to take this medicine for the rest of your life if you start taking it." I had to sign the form (I signed the second sheet - I was happy and confident signing it,) there was another female doctor who was very clear warning me and saying what a huge decision it was and I had to be VERY careful before deciding to start taking clonazepam. I decided to sign the form and take this drug, then I was issued the prescription script by the main doctor. I felt happy and relieved to be prescribed this drug. I believe in my dream I was prescribed this for pain, although I know it's usually used as an anticonvulsant or anxiolytic.

I remember having difficulty hearing what one of the doctors was saying. I wasn't completely deaf but was struggling to hear her. I believe the doctor I had difficulty hearing was the one warning me about the danger of taking clonazepam.

If anyone has any ideas about the meaning(s) of this dream I would be intreated to know and appreciate your input. Thanks for reading.

I felt a sense of "mission accomplished" when I was prescribed this drug. I don't particularly want clonazepam specifically in real-life, although I would be happy if I was prescribed a benzodiazepine such as clonazepam because it would help me with anxiety and possibly work for pain or at least help with pain-related anxiety. I suffer from chronic pain (uncontrolled,) anxiety (uncontrolled) and depression (controlled.)

3) Tell us about yourself! And not just the essential info such as sex, age, family situation, etc... include anything that you think might be of relevance to something that happened in your dream. For instance, if you see a friend in your dream, tell us about that friend in real life, how you feel about him/her, etc.

Clonazepam is used to treat a variety of disorders. One treatment I do know of is for people who experience frequent unintentional sleep paralysis. So, if you take clonazepam, you might have trouble with certain LD induction techniques.

As for your dream, I doubt it really means anything. I'm not one to believe in hidden meanings or anything like that. It could be just some random dream that didn't make any sense. I get them all the time.

I am not at all familiar with the medication. Just looking at the dream symbols, there does seem to be meaning there, but I don't know how to work in the drug itself as I dun know anything about it.

Possibly the doctors all being female represents nurturing; either your nurturing side or a desire to be nurtured and cared for. A4 paper is very large, about the biggest normal size paper you can get, so this seems to imply that your dream is casting a great deal of importance on what is written there. Are you having concerns with medication - either what you are taking or what you're thinking you should be taking? Because what is written on the paper is a list of side effects, it seems this is probably an area of concern your subconscious is highlighting for you. Are you disregarding the potential side effects of a medication you are/are thinking about taking? Or have you started to wonder if you're already experiencing some adverse affects from some medication you are on but denying it in your conscious mind and trying to pretend otherwise? The way you happily sign off on the paper seems to be showing that your subconscious mind is more concerned than the conscious mind and is trying to draw your attention to this casual disregard. The concerns written on the paper - especially the one your subconscious has taken the trouble to literally highlight for you

) seem to be the issues that concern you most. Not being able to properly hear the doctor who was the one issueing the warnings seems to be another subconscious signal that you are disregarding concerns you (or others have) - in one ear and out the other, so to speak.

The symbology all seems clear except for the drug itself. Could it be that you are concerned about the pain itself being a lifelong thing and the medication is just a symbol for the condition in the dream, a confusion of cause and effect? The drug may also stand for some actual medication that you are on or are considering taking. It may also represent something else in your life. You'll have to brainstorm on that one.

Thanks for your reply. I do have concerns with medication. I have been taking sleeping pills and want to stop before I get addicted. Also I'm in pain and am considering taking medicines for pain, anxiety and depression but the side effects and addictive-ness of these drugs makes me wonder whether it would be better not taking anything. I don't take anything else apart from zolpidem and wouldn't take this for longer than a few weeks at a time. I don't disregard any negative effects of this, but perhaps I am not thinking critically enough about anything I'll potentially take. I'm also concerned that the pain may last forever, I hope not but it doesn't look promising.

Have you considered looking into naturopathy for a less pharmaceutical remedy? Saint John's wort is supposed to help with depression...no idea if it would help with the other complaints at all. But if you're not satisfied with the result that clinical medicine gives you, it wouldn't hurt to try looking farther afield.

I'm sorry you have to deal with the pain. I hope things work out.
