Dreaming I'm a man.

Within the past year of dream journaling, I've had a handful of dreams in which I am not my normal female self, but a man. I've never had a dream where I am a different person, except when I dream I'm male. Most of the time, I am a male that I've seen on TV before. Most of the time in these dreams I am very stressed. Here are some of the dreams (abridged):

-I'm in a tremendous zeppelin-type craft, large enough to hold a university (it was a floating university). We're flying over the ocean. Everyone has black hair, even I. I have blue eyes, and see myself in third person. I'm in love with a brown-eyed girl, but too shy to approach her. Instead, I try showing her my love by breaking into the navigation room and setting a course for an island on which a solar eclipse is said to happen (this is the only part that I'm in first person). Before we arrive, we enter a storm system, people discover that I was the one that changed the course, I feel guilty/scared, and I wake up.

-Don't laugh. I'm Jimmy Neutron, and I'm sneaking into someone's garden through a hole in their fence. It's a produce garden, sturdy, fruitful, and pretty. I don't want to get caught. I enter a shed where I see the owner, your stereotypical scientist. He asks me what the problem is, and I tell him that none of this is real. He doesn't believe me, and I become very frustrated and do a bunch of floating back flips to prove it to him (this part is in third person). He still doesn't believe me. I wake up.

-I'm Orlando Bloom. My hair is wet. We are shooting a film that reminds me of something from Shakespeare, based on the clothes, set, and manner of speaking (also, the plot). I'm in a large bedroom, where my mother (not my real mother, an actress) lay ill. I ask her what I can do, and she flies out of her bed, hovering a few feet above, her long black hair dancing wildly in all directions, her arms and legs outstretched, her eyes rolled back. I can tell she's in a fit of convulsion from poisoning, and I keep thinking that it's too real to be special effects. I believe that she's my mother, and she's really in pain, despite gazing at the cameras nearby. I want to help her, but I become paralyzed, my gaze locked into her sickening face. I'm overwhelmed by fear and sadness, I feel it could've been prevented. I wake up in a cold sweat, nauseated.

-I've had a couple others where I've taken the form of Johnny Depp, but they didn't have as great an affect on me, consequently I can't find the Depp dreams in my journals (they are there somewhere...).

I think it means... I don't know. Maybe the message is detached from gender altogether. Maybe not. If it helps, I'm heterosexual, I hate makeup, and I hate the image of females as sex-toys and ditzes. Maybe these man dreams are a reflection of that. But what do I make of the realizations that I am acting/not real? The loss of those realizations?

Sounds like you're aware of yourself as someone you don't think as (stereo)typical female. You have a concept of femininity that is not like you. Similarly you have a concept of masculinity that is like you. Note that there is much more to both genders than what your dreams are showing you. i.e. Just because you dream of being a man, it doesn't mean that you think you're a man, just that there's a (possibly very small) part of you that identifies with men.

Ps, your first dream, the floating universities, makes me think of a Final fantasy game haha

@Papi-mami (because your other name is too hard to spell): Oh my gosh! I had never noticed that! I started playing Final Fantasy games (beginning with FFIII) after I had this dream, however.

Ahh FFIII is one of my favorites! But what first came to mind was the floating garden schools in FFVIII, have you played it before?

So did you come to any sort of conclusion yet about these dreams or are you satisfied by what burned off said?

This happenes to me too. I am a man. I dreamt I was a female friend, and she was me, and we had sex. It is beyond words..

well try to think of dreams as linking to some theme. Here the theme is probablky about your own wish to be seen as not the ditzy like blonde. Then study your own reactions the day before and the way you kept trying to alter your own behavior. The dream may be a diary of such judgemnts, adaptions and perceptions
For instance. The moment when you do back flips. Thats a symbol for a change in behavior. Perhaps you want to prove something so you show how adaptable you are.
obviously I cannot tell exactly what this back flip means. It is a symbol and only YOU can tell what it refers to in your own complex thoughts. I cannot for instance tell if the dream is about yesterday(the past) or today(the future). But most dreams refer to things or situations which have just happened or will just happen
I not so long ago had a dream including orlando bloom and the name orlando was a pun.. a bad pun.. Tyhe dream related to some alternative set of priorites that I wanted to flourish - a complex pun eg
OR = alternative set of priorites
BLOOM = Florish
Yet the symbol may mean something different to you. Your mind may not be attracted to crap puns lol

In real life we constantly make little decisions. We make judgments about how people react and how they perform. We assess how well we have done and if we can make little alterations. Life is full of such decisions. But in real life we need to make decisions quickly. Should I trust my son to walk to school on his own? Should I start jogging again so soon after my foot was injured? Should I side with my friend at work even though I know she was lying? In real life we need to make yes or no choices. Yet the truth is that in many cases we wish to say maybe! Much of the time we lack the necessary evidence or information to make a proper informed choice. Judging peoples characters and reactions is an ongoing process. Peoples behavior changes and we can spot these imperceptible changes. In many ways dreams concentrate on things which are different or changing in your life. Perhaps they dwell on a moment when your distrust of someone turned to trust. When your patience with someone turned to impatience. Dreams mark these little turning points. They mark the moment when the balance of the scales shifted from yes to no.

If in first person--it flips to third for a portion of the dream, or I can see myself (looking at my clothes, in a mirror, etc.). If third person, it's where the "camera" is centered (wherever my mind focuses on).
