Unhappy Hi I am new to this forum

I been having some weird dreams, I keep dreaming of my ex beign pregnant with somebody elses kid but she still wants to be with me well in the dream. But I wake up when this happens. I have no idea what it means. I also dream a young girl on a small rowboat crying in a lake. The lake is crystal clear water and the girl is dressed in white, she is sitting down and crying with her hands on her face. Can anybody tell me what this dreams mean?

I read this several times since its posting, along with the other posting of it as well and wasnt going to offer anything, but I find the urge unable to be resisted .

See how I see my dreams:

Nothing in a dream is to be taken at face value, at least in a dream such as this. There are two types of dreams that I am currently self aware of at this moment. One is a metaphorical representation, where the mass hidden inner consciousness is speaking to you and offering to teach you, you being the individual outer consciousness. The other type is uncommon and I will not get into it here.

Also, nothing in your dreams refers to anything but yourself. All in the dreams are pertaining to some aspect of your own self. The urge is to see them as they appear as seprate things to yourself, but they are not. All is referencing you yourself in some way.

In my dreams I have found, or am finding that the opposite sex is a metaphorical representation of this inner consciousness.

Sex is a representation of intimacy between the inner and outer consciousness.

Conception and or pregnancy is a representation of the total union of the two consciousnesses, the creation of a third aspect of consciousness.

Structures, buildings and such, are representative of the construct of the individual. Rooms in the structures are representative of different aspects of myself.

Other individuals, especially those of the same sex are also found to be representative of some aspect of myself. Though the aspect seems in a different context in a way than that of rooms in structures.

Pools of water, ponds, oceans, all are representative of the depths of being. The essence of ones Self, the source of all that is, the source of the inner consciousness.

All of these and more , I believe at this time to be archetypes of sorts, the basic structure of the "language of dreams" for all conscious self aware individuals.

Looking at your dream, your girlfriend is representative of this hidden inner cosciousness, your ties to it to be specific.
The pregnancy is representative of the union between inner and outer consciousness.
That this pregnancy is by another individual means that you as you are now, in this life, will not achieve the union yourself. The "other person" mentioned is also representative of yourself, but not as you are now, but as you will become, either later in this life, or in the next.
That she wants to still be with you indicates that you still have the potential to be in that union, be that "other person" even now in this life.

Now for the girl in the boat on the lake.
The lake is representative of the depths of being, the totality of mass consciousness, oneness of all that is.
The girl again is repesentative of the inner consciousness that is hidden within you. She is dressed in white as she is unspoken for, pure and unfound, unknown by you.
The rowboat is representative as a simple basic structure, the body perhaps. That she is alone in that structure speaks that you, your outer consciousness, is totally unaware of her existance, hence the crying as if in despair and lonliness.

Wow thanks man that is th most in depth response I have gotten, So basically you are saying that all this is me changing and reaching another level of conciousness either in thise life or the next. Are there any experiments I can do to test this or any ways I can reach the next level of conciousness. I am really interested in the subject of dreams and mind power. Thanks man.

What I am saying is that ones dreams speak in the language of visual metaphor. One should not take the images at face value. Rather than being the people and places and things they "seem" to be, they are rather symbols for something else. That something else is something that pertains to you, you being a self aware conscious being, and a being that is much more than a flesh and blood human.

Everyone has dreams and everyone is capable of interpreting their own dreams. All one needs to do is learn the language.

I believe that certain archetypes exist forming a common base language in dreams. Those archetypes are covered in details unique to each individual. The details are unique because they are pulled from the individuals life experience. Two or more individuals can have the same message but such may "appear" in the dream view with different details. Those details would be the names , particular people, places , things and so on. The use of such details make it necesary for a individual to be the interpretor of their own dreams in as much as possible. No one knows your life experiences like you do nor will anyone outside of yourself ever be able to.

I would reccomend that you take what I have suggested here and just start looking at the dreams you have in such a light and see what there is to be seen. Keep a dream journal and write your dreams down as this helps retention of them in your memory.

      Additionally when I said:

The "other person" mentioned is also representative of yourself, but not as you are now, but as you will become, either later in this life, or in the next
it means that you will become aware and be able to recognize the inner consciousness within yourself. Its an inner journey only the individual can take. While the end destination is the same , every individuals journey is different and unique. No one can simply tell you what you must find on your own, you must "taste" it for yourself. Thats the only test. Its not easy either.

If one learns the language of dreams and learns to trust in what comes by dream then one has access to an invaluable teacher within. Such will guide you where you need to go. There are alot of clues in ancient texts. The Tao and the Bhagavad Gita are invaluable, as are the words of Jesus Christ, all three speak the same language, as do many other sources.

Recognition of what is within already is the first step.

Thanks I started my dream journal, So I am going to write everything down. I want to see what all it all means. Sometimes my dreams have been like deja vu sometimes they are real vivid that I can actually change things in my dream so I am going to keep a record of dreams from now on.

wel, there are various aspects of yourself.. the childlike person, the nasty side to your character. But I think its a mistake to suggest that all dreams represent the self. Dreams to me represent the thoughts inside our head. A dream may link to real issues .. very specific things. Yet they may also link to very abstract and fantastic things. But always they link to the stuff inside our heads.. the thoughts inside us.

Yet why should the crying girl represent you. The crying girl may represent something that happened the day before.. the death of innocence.. an incident which in some way is represented by this symbol..

There is a very very strong link between the day before and dreams. So think about that crying girl and see what she represents. It maybe that something had a big impact on you at around the time of the dream.
      ------------------------
Dreams compare one thing to another. So do not be surprised if a dream about one thing turns out to be a dream about something entirely different. In fact you should expect a dream to be about something entirely different. After all a dream compares one thing to another. You would not expect a poem to use a line like "that beautiful sunrise was like a beautiful sunrise". Such a poem would clearly be ridiculous. A dream will use a metaphor to express its feelings.

Interesting, I am going to check out the links you posted, I have been keeping a dream journal if anyone is interested, I will post them here, labeled by the morning of the dream. I am willing to be an experiment to learn more about dreams and what they mean. In the journal I try to write as much as I can remember as soon as I wake up. Thanks for all the posts.

well you will find that if you post lots of background information then you will receive a lot more interpretations. Especially if youb stay around on a forum for a long time. People will recognise your name and post read your dreams.
      ------------------------
In order to understand dreams you need to understand neural networks. Neural networks are how the brain stores important information. The dream mind connects to something happening in your life by comparing it to something esle that has previously happened. Inreal life you may feel tired. So a dream connects to that event by comparing it to an event where you felt the same sensations. So your dream mind is saying "I felt as tired as I did when I was moving house".

      No such suggestion was made.

I do believe it is a mistake to limit the nature of dreams to the context of the physical brain though, as you seem to suggest. For me the brain and its functions are a physical manifestation of non physical realities. A seen representation of the unseen.
Looking at and understanding dreams should be inclusive of this realization. Those who dwell in the physical sciences to the exclusion of "spritual" or non physical realities have a hard time with that.
I dont argue against previous experiences playing a big role in the material from which the substance of which dreams are drawn. However, The use of those experiences may or may not have anything in of themselves to do with the overall meaning of the dream. The dreamer themselves are the only ones who can really sort such out. Sorting such out effectively requires more than the physical knowledge of the brain itself. Truly, that knowledge can in some cases be more a hinderance than a help too.

I suggested that this dream of the poster falls into the realm of dealing with the unseen self. There are indeed dreams that deal with the physical reality around oneself as well, but those, to me, seem far and fewer inbetween. Such are more grounded in "normalcy" as related to everyday experiences. Nothing in those usually appears to happen out of the realm of what is considered normally capable or probable of happening in the physical reality. One does not come across Girls in boats, nor have their ex's show up still wanting a relationship while pregnant with anothers child. Capable, but not probable.

Knowing of only the physical aspects of the brain is like only knowing half a language. There is more.

      NonDualistic:

I wasn't refering to you. Its just a general point about dreams. Sorry if it sounded like that.
      ------------------------
Often one symbol in a dream will seemingly have no relationship to any other. Totally bizarre things happen and there seems to be no sense to the dreams meaning. Thats because some symbols have a very cryptic meaning. A parachute may simply express the need to escape from a very difficult relationship. The need to land safely is a direct comparison to the need to land safely in an emotional sense. Yet within the context of the dream it makes no sense. It seems confusing and funny when we describe a moment when our granny gets hit by a parachutist. But dreams are like that. One portion of the dream makes no real sense within the story of the dream. Yet its meaning is there. The trick is to weave together various symbols. So see how that parachutist links within your own real life thoughts. So if you woke up that morning and felt "Yesterday I started to realise that I need to get out of my relationship with my boyfriend. He is being totally abusive. Right now I just need to escape with as little fuss as possible". Its likely that this dream about a parachutist is directly linked to those real life thoughts. Then start to piece together a wider meaning to the dream. Look at the possible symbolic meanings to the other symbols and try to see what the dream is saying overall.

Reading what you have to say here, I had a thought that seems to hold true after considering it .

Where one focuses their mind, and or their thoughts, prior to dreaming seems to move to direct the inner consciousness as to what the contents and the meaning of the dreams are going to be geared towards.

I note that several of the dreams I have had of late seem to reflect directy upon that which I focused my mind on. to that end I am experimenting with focusing my mind on questions I have prior to sleeping.

Have you heard of any studies done on this? or the results thereof?

such would seem to sugest that the "communication" is two way, not one, and can be direct rather than indirect.

well to me the dreams we have reflect our waking mind. I do not hold true with dreams being linked to some abstract unconscious. So really if we are thinking about something before we go to sleep and if we try to direct energy into that then the dreams will tend to reflect those thoughts.

I have heard of people setting themselves puzzles. I will try to remember more details about those puzzles. But certainly people have had dreams which are triggered by questions they ask themesleves

But this type of thing can be a little troublesome. I have oftenn tried to have experiements of this kind with myself. Yet they have failed. Sometimes you can manage to engage the brain yet others I have interpreted the resulting dreams and they seem to be saying things like "do not bother me with silly questions like this"

I often prefer to just allow the dreammind its time to concentrate on matters it considers important. I think dreams represent new insights and new conclusions. Pushing the dreamn mind into thinking about such and such an issue is not good. It will have its insights when good and ready. It knows what is important

I think that dreams reflect issues that we all too readily know about. Dilemmas, relationships, reading behavior, clarifying our own behavior, designiong new strategies.. all these are important to dreams.

      ------------------------
It is true that many dream symbols can have very personal meanings that only the dreamer could possibly connect to. For instance your sister may appear in a dream as an example of someone who interferes constantly in everything that you do. Yet a symbol may easily appear in a very standard sense. In a general and standard sense sisters link to a willingness to share opinions and to talk openly. Your dream may use a sister in that sense. It is equally true that a sister may appear just as themselves. The dream may then connect with some issue that involves them either directly or indirectly. The trick is then to keep an open mind and explore every possibility.

That puzzle - I have remembered

Dreams can often be induced. You can decide to have a dream about something. Try the following test. Read the puzzle below just before you go to bed.

PUZZLE : what is curious about this sentence : show this bold prusian that praises slaughter, slaughter brings rout?

Do not try to solve the puzzle. Then simply report any dreams about this. Just post them on this thread. So try to solve the puzzle during your sleep. Please DO NOT tell me the answer as I know the answer. Its just the resulting dreams I am interested in. Posting the answer will spoil it for anyone else who wishes to attempt the puzzle

Dreams can be linked to creative thinking. You can inspire yourself in dreams with ideas for songs, writing and even science. In fact dreams are probably where our most productive thinking takes place. Its during the nighttime when we have few distractions that things start to come together. Try the following page below as it features some creative dreams.

      Hmmmmm....

First I would not say that the unconscious is abstract. More like we're processing information all the time but are only aware of a small part of that (conscious) and most of it is out of awareness (unconscious). Unconscious processes nevertheless affect our conscious thoughts and especially our dreams (when our ego or sense of "me" is switched off). We may find ourselves thinking/dreaming of something we hadn't entertained for years, perhaps since early infancy. It's these older processes that we have no words for and they come through as feelings and seemingly random images. Those are our emotions and our dreams. The most powerful dreams tend to have a strong emotional content.

Yes, we can be processing stuff from the previous day. But what is processing anyway if it's not a mechanism fueled by our unconscious armoury of data?

I'll have a go at your puzzle anyway
