Wow, that's a really interesting dream. Sounds like something that belongs in the Book of Revelations. Also sounds like something that'd make a good story for a movie too.
I'm not sure if you want an interpretation or not though.
In my experience Armageddon typically represent our relationship with ourselves. The dream might be talking more about your soul and the microcosm within it (your inner universe). TVs and other lines of mass communication represent that microcosms ability to communicate, so one part of the microcosm can communicate with other portions. I think the movie The Neverending Story perfectly illustrates this concept. I've always theorized that the movie was based on a dream someone had. In that movie the line of communication was represented by the book Sebastian read. In your case your interaction with the TV immersed you in another universe drawing you into your inner cosmos just as it did for Sebastian. And just like in the movie The Neverending Story, your universe was being threatened by oblivion. The threat of Armageddon revolves around your emotions and your feelings. It is a manifestation of how you feel. In the movie The Neverending Story, eventually The Nothing succeeded in destroying the universe, but the universe in The Neverending Story was recreated when Sebastian resolved the emotional conflict that was destroying his universe. For Sebastian, it was the death of his mother that was destroying him. The Nothing might have represented the emptiness he felt and how it consumed him. Ultimately reading the The Neverending Story had a cathartic effect on Sebastian allowing him to express his repressed emotions allowing his inner microcosm to be reborn.
I think the same holds true for you. Just like in The Neverending Story, the last hope of that universe could be found on an asteroid. And on that asteroid was the Ivory Tower. So in essence the people who spoke many languages on the asteroid in your dream represent the hope of your microcosm. The fact that the people spoke many languages may be similar to the idea of the tower of babel. It may represent the division amongst the archetypes of your microcosm. And the voice which silenced all the individual voices may represent the unifying force of your universe.
I think the themes in your dream are very common place. You see a similar theme in the Ghostbuster movies. But remember that the fact that it's common place doesn't mean the dream any less significant. Ghostbusters 2 perfectly illustrates how our emotions influence the balance of power in the universe. In GB2 It was the negative emotions of the people of New York that was charging the ectoplasm and giving power to Vigo the Carpathian. Vigo was the archetypical antichrist. The Ghostbusters defeated Vigo by inspiring the people of New York with the ultimate symbol of hope, the Statue of Liberty. By using the Statue of Liberty to change the negative emotions of the people of NY to positive emotions, the Ghost busters were able to shift the balance of power in their favor, thus defeating Vigo.
In GB1, we also see the theme of armageddon. In this movie it was the thoughts of Ray that created the herald of armageddon who then manifested itself as the Staypuff Marshmallow Man. Fortunately for the people of NY Ray was a good hearted man. That goodness was reflected by the Staypuff Marshmallow Man. It was easy to beat because it wasn't really evil.
These examples represent the concept of how the universe is an illusion, a manifestation of our own feelings, memories, psychological state, etc. In GB1 the other three Ghostbusters adapted the Buddhist philosophy of meditation on nothing in an attempt to avert armageddon. It's by meditating about nothing, that the Buddhists seek to overcome the illusion of reality and achieve Nirvana.
