Your theory is a classic one actually. Feelings are meant to be felt, if you face them when they happen you will usually do better than if you push them down inside. There is an ability that we have to control or surpress feelings, to deny that certain things have affected us but when the emotions have been very strong and the intellectual or ethical issues persist within us you end up producing a physiological reaction. The old question why does a broken heart hurt, is thus answered. It hurts because the limbic system causes a physiological response. Exactly what happens and how is still not well known but it is known that repressing emotions is bad for your health. Also I recently saw a study where forgetting was linked to healing. Apparently just the memory of certain things can reopen old wounds and produce the same inner conflict that we felt when the incident happened. The old regression therapy technique of trying to remember everything is lately being called into question. However if it is on your mind then you should look at it. Somethings that can bring healing are safety, the knowledge that the world is a big place and time brings change that will conform to your will if you stay focused. Define your future, determine how to get there, and when it arrives you will have defined your reality.
If you have had a lot of trauma or troubled relationships with important people you don't need a dream to tell you to take a close look at how that is affecting your self-esteem and emotional health. The teeth falling out might be a sense of weakness, events are out of your control or you do not feel you can raise your voice. You could be forecasting for yourself a time of spritual drought or transition, or of the death of a time period in your life. I would just look honestly at how your life has been and ask if any relationship or series of events has made you feel powerless. And then I would look out at this great big world full of opportunity and know that the life you want to live either already exists or is possible.
