Hey, that is quite an interesting experiment. Well thought out as well. I will try this when I get the opportunity. For how long will you be collecting data?
Hi everyone,
I posted that thread already in the general discussion, but maybe this is also a good place...
I am a phd-student at the University of Heidelberg (Germany) and I'm writing my thesis about the possibility to practice motor skills in lucid dreams. I designed a lucid dream experiment to do at home. I already conducted the experiment in Germany with great success, and I'd like to replicate the findings! Because of that I translated the experiment. The task to do in your lucid dreams is very simple: Try to toss a coin into a coffee cup!
You can find everything you need on the website:
http://luciddreaming.de
It is important that you consider the following points:
1. You should read the introduction/instructions on the webpage
2. download and print the documents for the experiment (4 pages including instructions and protocol sheets)
3. Do the experiment at a night when you feel confident to have a lucid dream:
3.1. In the evening: do the coin-tossing in the waking-state and write down your hits out of 20 tosses.
3.2. In your lucid dreams: pracitce, practice, practice!
3.3. In the morning: do the coin-tossing in the waking state and and write down your hits out of 20 tosses.
4. Submit your results by using the formular on luciddreaming.de --> Step 4 (Important: You don’t have to sent anything by mail!!)
IMPORTANT: If you have irregularly lucid dreams or you are a non-lucid dreamer than PLEASE participate too in the experiment! It might be the case that the task is stimulating you to have lucid dreams, also you might have a normal dream about the coin-tossing task or you remember no dream during the night. Either case, the data would be equally important for us!
I would be very happy if many people from this forum participate in the coin tossing task!
best wishes from Heidelberg, Germany!

Hi,
the deadline is August 1., 2005.
There is one thing I forgot to mention. When the study is finished, than we will analyse all the data and provide the results for everyone who is interested on the website: luciddreaming.de
We conducted already four different experiments in Germany on a quarterly period and all the results can be found on http://klartraum.de/klar_newsletter/archiv.htm.
Those reports are - of course, but unfortunately for most people here - in German; but something similare will be given to you in English with the coin-tossing experiment. So, everyone will gain new insights about lucid dreaming from the online-study!
Some of you might already recognize the similarities to "experiments in lucid dreams" (NightLight) from Stephen LaBerge. Part of that is that I know the work of Stephen very well (I had two research stays at Stephens Lab) but also I really liked those studies and a lot of knowledge about lucid dreaming was obtained through those experiments...
Thanks for your help
Daniel
The coin-tossing experiment is offline but we have an new online-questionnaire about applying lucid dreams:
http://experiment.luciddreaming.de
In a lucid dream a person realizes that he or she is dreaming. In a lucid dream, anything can be done – nothing is impossible. But what do lucid dreamers do in their lucid dreams? In one of our previous online surveys we asked lucid dreamers what they intended to do in their following lucid dreams. The planned activities could be categorized into five groups: impossible actions; interactions with dream personages; daily actions; actions in relation to one’s own body and; other.
With the new online questionnaire we would like to find out whether you have used (one of) your lucid dreams for a particular purpose, for example to change nightmares into more pleasant dreams, to learn a sport, solve a problem, etc. Please feel free to name a different use you have found for your lucid dreams.
Enjoy!
Yeah, I will definately try this. Sounds like a fun research experiment.
Shine on, you crazy diamond!

First time I think at this in terms of numbers
cute!
Do I chug a beer if I miss. JK
This does seem very interesting.
Please keep us updated. And thanks for sharing it with the Research Team!![]()
This would take a considerable high level of lucidity no?
I have recently ended my dry spell () and have used my high level LDs to practice chess and the guitar.
