      Subconscious Creativity & Literature

Hey all... I read an experiment on ld4all.com that is basically the same idea as this one
However considering that a lot of you either don't go there, or would like to discuss it in our great community - I've decided to post it here

The idea is to prod our subconscious for creativity in terms of literature, and see what we come up with. Let's get our subconscious to write essays, poems, etc

It's quite simple to understand the idea, but not all that easy in practice
      1) Become lucid
      2) Get a blank page of paper
      3) Look away from the paper, and think of a topic you would like to write about
      4) Have the topic get written to the paper
      5) Read it, and do your best to remember it.
Perhaps wake yourself up after reading it... (optional)

You can see why its not that easy - it involves reading and memory retention of the literature
However the results can be quite spectacular, in theory

Lets create a repository of dream literature!

PS: No, I haven't got this right yet, however others on ld4all have. One of them had a pretty good poem

Lets say you are more of an artist than a writer. Having a blank canvas instead of paper and whatever media you would prefer to use, look away and than paint or draw.

DO you think that would use a differant part of the brain than that of literature? It would still take thinking, but there would be more visualizing.

I like this Idea though! It reminds me of the telephone technique remember that? It took me five months to get that one.

Yeah, I love this idea too. But I don't see people stepping over each other to try it
The drawing would be great - but the trouble with that one is, that you can't take a real life camera into your dreams .. haha
IOW - you can record words more accurately than the picture, usually
And it means you have to paint it afterwards anyway

If someone can pull off the picture recall, and re-painting it - that would be very cool though. very.

PS: I haven't got this right yet, as most of my lucid dreams have been too forgetful. Haven't been having a lot of LD's anyway, lately - too distracted.

I had a lot of preperation time to myself last night to try an incubate a lucid dream. I did. I had two, but both were rather vague.
However I remembered to try this Idea. I did not try the painting though. (It was funny Placebo, I remember thinking to myself, "I better try writing somthing down instead of artwork until I here from placebo" .)
Anyway the was a portion of my dream where I was releativly Lucid whhen I tried to write somthing. My mind could not put down a coherant thought. I got aggrevated s oI tries writing numbers down, I wrote down numers in sequence until about 18 or 19. I then lost my Lucidity. I really did not know where I was going with this. Was I going to count to a million?

Wow, just remembered. I did a pretty inredible drawing in a dream recently that I wish I could re-create in real life. It was awesome, the perspective was perfect, the values were all there. I just wasnt lucid. Next time I have an LD I'll be trying this first thing...after flying of course. I've not done any writing in a dream, but a fair amount of reading, which is actrually very fluid for me in dreams, as well as consistent, in that the words tend not to move in excess. I usually try to remember passages from what I've read, but we all know how that goes... > Wake up,> forget what it was,> try to remember, squeeze brain, >still can't remember,> cry about it, >go back to sleep.

      Good luck, Torcher

Howwie: I either missed your post, or the hacking attempt removed mine, or confused me completely
In any event - good try. When you say 'My mind could not put down a coherant thought', you mean nothing understandable was being written? Ah well. hmm. Try again?

Mickeys_Elbow: I didn't see the poem itself, it was just mentioned that there was one that wasn't too bad. And I'm not sure if this was an experiment, or just one of the normal general threads. I can't recall now This was during the time that DreamViews went down and we all crashed the party at ld4all

I've really been in the dumps with lucid dreams lately, and having family over and more distractions isn't helping.
I keep having those 'close' ones
Perhaps I should start with the self hypnosis schedule again

You are correct. The words were in no particular order. No sentences. Like my posts
Anyway, now that I have heard from you I am bringing out the pencil & paper. DaVinci here I come. Crack this code 8)

Last night I had a dream (non-lucid but I was reading anyway) with a poetic friendly giant that left little tid-bits around my friends house. The only one I read said "Nothing given Nothing gained, Nothing tried Nothing trained." It felt very uplifting to read this in the dream, and I really liked the giant a lot after that .

      Very cool, elbie

Is that something you've read before though? Or not that you know of?

Nothing given Nothing gained is something I've heard quite a bit in my life. But the second part, to my knowledge, I have never heard.

This is such a cool idea, I'll have to try this next time I'm lucid. I have tried this but with painting in the past, I got some nice results there.

We can start a little community page of dream literature, if we can collect a bit more
Or perhaps a 'dream literature' team (different name perhaps - you get the idea)

      'Dream Library' perhaps...

'Nothing given, nothing gained, nothing tried, nothing trained'
      I really like that

PS: googling for it, the closest cause of your saying might be from an episode of powerpuff girls called 'nothing ventured, nothing trained'. Otherwise it seems unique

Cool, but I can't take credit for it. The friendly giant was the author, lol. Maybe I'll need to try and see him again to find what else he can give me.

I tried this last night, didn't get very good results though, I thought 'revenge' and all I got was a kill bill style thing with Pai Mai talking about pineapples in it. I didn't even get time to read it fully because I started to feel my body in my bed and a few secconds later the dream was ended =/

I hate becomeing lucid at the end of a dream period.

Sucks, because I make so much of my artwork this way, I'll just have to try again tonight I guess

About a week ago, when I completed the lucid task of the month, I also created a poem involving 'coffee'
It had a pretty fullcolour, basically 3D, fruit and leaf border on the left of the paper. The poem itself came out like this:

My life is turning into a waste
And an earmark for presidents of bad taste
Then in the canteen today, they serve ..(forget) ..
... Rhyming couplets of bad sounding food, including coffee...

For detail of the entire dream : 1 - Swordfighting Tim (Very Lucid) - go to the post near the bottom, or search for 'swordfighting tim'
