Never saw the movie, but enjoyed the play.
I recently got into the musical "RENT" and it's pretty much all I can think about!
After seeing it I've been extremely into the whole Bohemian lifestyle.
I love everything about it! The concept of living a fulfilling life out of a pretty shitty one really fascinates me, and people dedicating their lives to their passion, like Roger and his music and Mark with his filming - with no intention of getting rich off it, is pretty awesome.
Its the sort of thing I wish my immature friends could understand and join me in =P
Also, the fact that it takes the controversy out of homosexuals (Never does it treat it as abnormal, they treat it as a natural and beautiful thing, nothing else,) makes me feel really, really glad. They know they're gay and other people know it - but they're not ashamed and condemned - they're FREE! There's no issue.
Anyhoo, who else LOVES this movie?

Never saw the movie, but enjoyed the play.

I saw the movie in class, it was ok, but i must admit it was rather depressing. How did it go. One hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes!! haha i don't know the words properly![]()
I know exactly how you feel. Its the sort of thing I wish my immature friends could understand and join me in
I love Rent! I'm actually a recovering obsessive over it. I'm one of those people who saw the movie before the play. Though, I remember when I was in the theater at the opening part with all of them standing there on the stage I knew right then I would love this movie. After, that I saw the movie about 5 + times before it hit DVD. I have yet to see the musical, they did come to Toronto but I didn't have enough money. Anyway, I know what you mean it by the whole theme of it being liberating (sp). They show how life is exposed to be lived.
Though, have you seen the alternative ending? It’s on the DVD anyway when I saw that I wished they kept it. I found it way better, but that’s just me. Also , with the extension of Goodbye love.”
Great movie all in all.

Wow, Expressive Arts? That's fucking awesome!! Did you see the whole movie in it?

Yeah i did, it was ok but annoying because some people didn't turn up for the lesson so each lesson we had to re-watch some of the bits we'd already seen. not bad of a film though.
We sang some of the songs back in High School, but I had never seen the play. (The movie didn't come out until years later.) I didn't see it in the theater, but waited until it came out on DVD. It was awhile before I got a chance to watch it and I didn't really like it all that much. I watched it again after it came out on cable and I've seen it hundreds of times since then. I even made my own quiz about the movie.

OMG im obsessed with it!! Ive never seen it live but i own the movie and i have seen it like a billon times.![]()
I think Lease was miles beyond it.
Now this is the day you fall upon my waking eyes, Inviting and inciting me to rise, And through the window in the wall, Comes streaming in on sunlight wings, A million bright ambassadors of morning...
And no one sings me lullabies, And no one makes me close my eyes, And so I throw the windows wide ,And call to you across the sky...
I grudginly watched the movie with my wife, but didn't expect much. I really dislike most musicals. It turns out I really enjoyed it, and will probably watch it again.
