I usually have the TV on but I rarely actually watch it.

I think I asked you what Black Books was once but, I'd completely forgotten that I have actually seen that show. I like it, too. Another good one is Spoons. I wish I could catch those two more often. And, Hardware? Is that what it's called? I don't know. Good show, though. Whatever it's called.

There's only a few shows I bother watching and I usually miss those these days: The King of Queens and... I forget what else. Glenn Beck is one I try to catch but I've been missing that one too lately.

I can agree with you there, i do watch some shows but TV for me is not like it used to be, its full of alot of crap now, i enjoy other things instead. Theres good shows like Lost or 24 or Stargate, but i just watch them on the internet now.

I haven't watched TV in 4 years. I have missed thousands upon thousands of fast food and car commercials, millions of sexual comments and stupid jokes, and many, many hours distraction. TV is not real..it is a frikkin propaganda machine owned by evil corporations. Turn it off.

I get "BBC America" on cable. I also agree with Mes' comment on BBC news. I doubt any news source can possibly be 100% unbiased but BBC does seem to be pretty close most of the time. BBC news runs on both BBCA and PBS in America.

      grrr.

There is a difference between watching mind numbing programming and choosing what you see and read via internet (which I will add is the greatest way to educate oneself without it all being filtered by networks.) Even food is corporation owned, but we have to eat silly.

That is the one that takes place in a small book store, right? With the thin lady and two guys; the owner lives there? I've seen it a handful of times.

      FUCK YEAH.

i have collected over time a huge stack of new books i've bought to read and i'm very interested in all of them but my mood goes thread so many highs and lows, either way i can't focus on anything...so i have watched a lot of tv in my life. i hate it though. especially watching re-runs, that's the most awful waste of time. i've been working on the bipolar thing and i've been able to focus better so i'm going to start reading :)

      This does suck paperdoll!
My mind is often racing and it is hard for me to get settled in to read a book.
When I do and I get engrossed and time passes....That is entertainment. Like I'm in another world.

Well traditionally I like fantasy. I like the type of stuff Neil Gaiman writes. He's good but not exceptional, I don't think. Favorite books are Coldfire Trilogy if you've heard of them. Love Master and Margarita. But anything that's decent is good with me, any genre.

I have to say I watch a lot of TV, however I also read a LOT of books. At the moment I'm reading "Adrian Mole: The Cappucino Years". I see no harm in watching television as long as it isn't all you do, and the only stimulation you get. Also, BBC is a good news program; in our house it's always on over breakfast. The Discovery channel is awesome, particularly MythBusters.

For some rebellious reason I tend not to read very well known and popular authors.
My sister gave me three of her books. One Dean Koontz and the other two King. I must say I enjoyed every one of them a lot.
      Intensity -thriller

      Stephen King
The girl who loved Tom Gorden

I love that book! They made a movie out of it too, which was pretty good but the book is always better. I have 25 Dean Koontz books, my favorite still probably being Strangers. Long book but a good one.

I also have a few Stephen King books and the only book I've ever read that ever gave me nightmares was Pet Cemetery. For some reason, that book scared the shit out of me.

And they made a movie out of that one too, but still not as good as the book, not by a long shot.

Wow I can't handle horror novels anymore. That was practically the only genre I read when I was younger though. Does anyone remember those horror series, for kids... Goosebumps was one of the main ones? I loved those. Especially the ones where you had a choice at the bottom of the page how you wanted the story to continue.. if you were very lucky, the characters would survive.

I read a bunch of "which-way" books back in the day. Mostly horror and sci-fi ones.

      LOL

I think what really freaked me out about it was the evil spirit energy that he described. Like some demon of pure evil. I dunno, it's been awhile since I read it since I wasn't keen to re-read it after the nightmares finally stopped.

Actually, the only movie I can say that I liked better than the book was The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. The books were long and boring, imo, with all the locational names that I could never keep straight, and all the songs and stuff that I just skipped altogether. I liked the movies much better - the extended versions though, not the theatrical ones.

Omg burns lol. The LotR books forever altered the course of my life; but then, if everyone liked the same thing, the world would be a very, very boring place I suppose.
