Family guy is random and not very well written. It does have some good jokes, but I still prefer The Simpsons.

I like random in Cartoons, it rules.

Well, I seem to not have much of a sense of humour in general for many a personal reason or demon, but Family Guy just like The Simpsons and other various cartoons, while sometimes going overboard, can also be funny in a good way.

The thing about Family Guy, is that is has so many f*cking flashbacks like that because it's not well written enough to somehow fit it into the actual story line. The writers just think of something funny, then place it randomly in the cartoon. It really takes no imagination to do that. Anyone can think of something funny in there head like that.

I like the simpsons better because it actuallt has plots and storylines instead of a flipping flashback every 5 seconds. It really gets old watching those damn flashbacks all the time.

If its funny its funny. And it is.

I'm not talking about the crappy movies that go straight to DVD. The simpsons movie will actually play in theaters!

I still can't imagine a Simpsons movie. Not that I'm defending Family Guy or any other such cartoons. They just don't make for much of a movie seeing how they're long-term comedic TV shows.

But, all in all, I guess that movie could be fun to watch. Not all movies have to be of epic proportions, heh.

It's a highly awarded TV show about a widow that, mother of two, who starts selling weed in the suburbs to sustain her family. It's funny, has a great storyline, and some amazing twists! It's a great show, that's sure to "spark laughter".

I dunno, the simpsons are funny but somewhere along the line the humor seemed to have changed, like they were using a different writer or something. I had seen every episode, and probably a few times over, then I stopped watching it for a while because of that. Then I began watching it again after they had started making new episodes...and it just wasn't the same after that. They are still funny tho, and so is family guy. I dont really care much for the ever popular "us" verse "them" dynamic, especially when it comes to two shows I like perfectly well.

Here's the way I see it. The Simpsons are more consistently funny because its a "safer" type of humor. They don't really go out on a limb with their stuff, which has it's pros and cons. But shows with random humor like Family Guy (and even ATHF, Sealab2020, etc) have a different sort of humor. They take comedic risks and are less concerned with "will people get the humor in this?". Because of this, sometimes I can't connect with some of the jokes, and I'm sure other people can't either. But when you can, the funniess is on a whole other level than the simpsons. Its like the difference between your typical "funny joke" and an inside joke. Sure, the funny jokes are funny, but sometimes you just can't parallel a good inside joke.

I just watched an episode on Sky One. You know the one where Bart has to stay 200 feet from Lisa or something like that? Here's the difference!

TS - More storylike but less funny
FG - More funny, yet random, that's why I like it.

family guy is pretty funny, but it gets old after a while. I myself prefer South Park. I think that show does a much better job of going over the line about current issues in our society. Plus, I think Family Guy is too much like The Simpsons.

I agree. Amercian Dad is to Family Guy; what Futurama is to The Simpsons. I dont see how Family Guy and The Simpsons are the same though, besides that fact that its about a family. But other than that, the humor is totally different.

My mom once watched Family Guy. SHe was laughing. My dad on the other hand not so great, he hated it. But my brother and I watch it all the time. *HEARTS* to Stewie!!

He's so cool

Don't get me wrong, I like the show, I just think that its too repetative in what it does. I like Stewie and Brian the best. Everyone else is too predictable in how they act. Chris is the stupid one that never understands what is happening, Meg is the frustrated at not being popular girl who is desperate to be accepted, Peter is the loving idiot who undoubtedly makes a mistake but later realizes it and makes up for it, and Lois is just boring. Besides, the creator of the show, Seth MacFarlene, voices both Brian and Stewie; so its only natural that those 2 characters are going to be the most in depth.
