Thread: .Hack games

I've played the first one, and some of the third.

I looked everywhere for the second but it was very rare to find around where I live...

I have seen my cousin beat the whole series though.

I don't remember a lot, but I think I was like only level 20 when I went to fight the last boss guy on the first .Hack game.

I love the first game, at least one of the animes, and //Legend of the Twilight. And one of the novels, I think AI Buster. I haven't played Mutation-Quarantine or GU, and haven't read the manga based on the original games, but that's because I was always broke when any of the game stores in my town had Mutation in stock.

BTW, noticed your Mistral avatar (or whoever that is, her daughter or another female Wavemaster) earlier. Was hoping that meant you liked .hack//.

I wish they would come out with a .hack//sign online MMORPG...

And yeah, your avatar did look somewhat familiar.

They had one that was based on The World v.1, but deactivted the servers after only a year online, leaving everyone who had bought the game with a $50 .hack// drink coaster. I think they only had a japan server, and the american release was cancelled.

Oh...I remember seeing some "The World" thing on their main website, but I wasn't able to click on it.

So I had always wondered if they were going to make an online game of it.

That would be really awesome if they did. My only complaint is that you have to pay to play.

I wish MMORPG's like that would make some kind of free world that would limit the places people could go and some of their abilities.

If games had that, I'd be playing final fantasy XI online again...

Unfortunately I've played GU. The first red flags were raised upon hearing it was a game about an anime about a game. If that doesn't raise red flags for you, something is wrong with you. But I thought I'd give it a chance anyway, since it was a Namco RPG with a combat system somewhat in the style of Tales of. And yeah, the combat is actually not bad, but no one over the age of 12 could possibly take the story half as seriously as it takes itself. It's just retarded. Also, spending 3 hours on the game but only actually playing during half an hour of that is just ridiculous. Too many cut scenes.

I really didn't like how when you entered a world, there would be no one else on the field except for you and your teammates...I want to see other people running around killing monsters!

I am a HUGE fan of the .Hack series, I've played the first four games and completed them (which is murder by the way )

Anyway, who are your favourite characters from the series?

Mine are Mistral and Mireille because like me they're rare item hunters. Ah, so many rare items, so little time and storage space!

And, @Kit, my favorite characters in the original game are Natsume and Balmung, and my favorite characters in //Twilight were Mirielle and Ouka (and still Balmung/Azure Sky, that dude rocks no matter what series he's in). Mia was cool, but I'm afraid to get to attached to her character due to semi-spoilers I kept hearing while researching the games.

You're right though Jet it is annoying when Blackrose dies and demands to be ressurrected.

Slayer, if you told me what they did, then I could probably tell you who the characters are.

Well, I really only played the first game Infection, so it would have to be the characters from that one.

I think one of my favorite characters were Mistral. The other one was Mia, but you never got her in your party.

Yeah, i thought you did have Mia in you party, at least once. Wasn't it during the quest against the giant virused caterpillar-cobra thing?

And, Kit, I seriously hope that they were completely unfounded rumors. I expect the live-action OVA would be on par with the typical low-budget, unlicensed or third-party live-action OVA. And yes, it is L. (No, I haven't seen any of the Deathnote movies, but at least one of them actually sounded good, if not all three)

I love those games!!! Although. I LOVE the show .Hack//Sign. That was the best anime I've ever seen. I love that show!!!

GAH. I don't know. I know Mia was in the games, and Oaka with in the .Hack Twilight series. But I don't know about that one.

That was Macha, one of the eight phases/virus. Macha is Mia's, the cat player from the games, true self. In the games Mia slowly deteriorates as the wave gets stronger, and this is because she is a program herself (an AI).

Anyway, in the anime Macha was sent by Morganna ('The World' itself) to keep an eye on Tsukasa in case he got out of the game. However Macha and Tsukasa became friends (he even gives her a gift - I think it was aromatic grass) and this angered Morganna. So Morganna decided to data drain Tsukasa, but was saved by Macha who got data drained herself (which turned her into Mia). This resulted in Macha losing nearly all of her memories. And in the games Mia is obsessed with finding Aromatic grass because it reminds her of Tsukasa.

That would actually make sense of why Mia was so obsessed with finding the aromatic grass. It did seem that she was roleplaying her aromatic-grass-addicted-catbeing character a bit more obsessively than a normal person playign the game should.

(It's been over half a decade, I think i've given up on keeping away from spoilers... Has it been that short a time since the games first came out? Quarantine's prerelease campaign was when i first started getting into the series, which was... four and a half years ago. Wow.)

I think it is sad though, because Mia dies *sniff*.

Kite and Elk find Mia in this dungeon, and she begins to ask them who she is.
Then she transforms into Macha - but this being is different than the original Macha as she wears a huge dress like cloak thing. Anyway, Kite defeats her and she transforms back into Mia, and then dies in Kites arms saying Thank You to Elk for being there for her.

Aw, how... touching. Or sweet. Something like that.

Subaru was from the Anime. I think you can get her in one of the .hack games.

I believe she was a princess in the Anime.

I just found the picture in my sig on the internet, I didn't take a quiz. Though I did try to find one.

Subaru was from the anime and she was one of the co-founders of the Crimson knights.

In the games it is actually an AI program created by Helba masquerading about as Subaru. Subaru herself wasn't actually in them.

Subaru, even though she looks like one, is not a princess. She is the online persona of a paraplegic Japanese girl.
