Inception was incredible, especially for me, since I am fascinated with dreams! I think anyone on this site will enjoy it, since obviously to be part of this site, you would be into dreams! The effects were mindblowing!

Not that good, but not terrible either.

I just wanted to have a thread with everyone's opinions and reviews. Vote in the poll, too. It will be interesting to see everyone's views after seeing it, because everyone was so looking forward to it. I will assume it was just as good as everyone expected, if not better.
I also want to know if it really does have as big a focus on Lucid Dreaming as we all expected it to.
I haven't seen it yet, but I will, and when I do, I'll post my review here too.
Also, try not to reveal the plot, unless you put it in [ spoiler][/spoiler] tags.
Thanks.

hoolyyy craaaaaaap.
just got back from it a bit ago. i wasn't disappointed in the slightest. the acting was solid and my jaw was slack a lot during the movie, haha - the effects were VERY well done.
though lucid dreaming is the whole basis for the plot, don't expect it to be a realistic portrayal of what lucid dreaming is.
best movie i've seen in a while![]()

I really liked it. Acting top notch. Story top notch. Characters... as good as a film of it's kind allowed them to be.
If there's one fault it's that the script is sometimes built to confuse, which can be frustrating. But as with all Nolan films, you can figure it out in the end.

Nice. Makes me want to see it more, to hear the good feedback.
I've just got back from seeing it, and I have to say it was pretty amazing how they made the whole sub-conscious part of the movie look amazingly realistic. By the way for those who have seen, do you think his totem was going to fall? I mean, he saw his kid's faces so...
Definitely a must watch for anyone whose on this site, let alone anyone who has even had a dream. And my theory is that the top was going to fall, after all it was teetering in the last shot, and we see the kids faces.

Very good movie. I dont know why you're reading this when you could be watching Inception.

Inside 'Inception': Could Christopher Nolan's Dream World Exist in Real Life? - ABC News
Apparantly Nolan practiced lucid dreaming when he was a teenager.
I myself had heard of lucid dreaming before but never really attempted at it, and my interest was piqued again after watching inception yesterday.
And the movie was awesomee.

I thought it was good, not very good. It was a bit too dramatic for my tastes. There were some flaws in logic as well. Like why couldn't they just turn themselves into giant dinosaurs or mecha to defend themselves? It's what I would have done. Definitely one of the season's best films, but it's not winding itself onto my top favorites.
I'm going to be pissed if the lucid cat gets out of the bag because of this movie. I cringe at the thought of an association being drawn with this movie every time lucid dreaming is mentioned. And besides, I like our happy little subculture of lucid dreamers.

Wow! This movie was the best thing I have seen in a long while. Everything was so classy, not cheesy at all. The acting and effects were great and the plot was original. Anyone who is into dreams will love it.
Amazing film, loved it from start to end. I was a bit annoyed that the ending took WAY long to happen, but I still enjoyed it.

I saw this movie twice, on the day it came out and today! It was really good. I loved the music, acting, and dream scenes! Even though some of it wasn't quite right.. like in some dream scenes people don't just start attacking you... and if you were being attacked you could just fly away or something, and in the underwater van you could have breathed underwater.. I had to see it twice to fully understand what was going on... But it was still awesome and it's the best movie I have seen in awhile. As for the end, I think the top didn't stop spinning because after he spun it, he went to see his children and like 3 minutes later the thing was still spinning. It was wobbling a little, but I mean come on, it definitely would have fallen earlier if he wasn't dreaming.

I did not like it. One reason is that the fact that it was dreams was just a plot device in order to have a few more trippy effects than waking life can allow. Another is, like has been mentioned, why didn't they just transform into dinosaurs or demons or fly away, instead of just running around shooting each other. The cheesy cop-out that if you die in your dream that you will wake up in oblivion is just a cheesy plot device to make there be real danger, when of course dreaming isn't dangerous at all. Another thing, if his wife had such a hard time figuring out what was waking life and what was dreams, why didn't she just do a reality check instead of killing herself? And since when is the only way out of a dream to kill yourself? It was an action movie trying to be a psychological thriller. There wasn't much imagination put into it at all. Most of my dreams are better than that movie.
I loved the movie. Plus, it added to my motivation to keep practicing lucid dreaming and gave me new ideas for things I want to try =)
I liked it very much. That said, my expectations were set really high, and I don't think it quite lived up to them.

Whoa, who votes it terrible? o_O
The interpretation of the dream world in Inception is different from our interpretation probably due to issues concerning the audience. I don't think I would really enjoy or be able to easily follow the transition from a human character to a mech and than possibly another kinds of animal/robot/being.
The idea is that in their dreams, people don't have supernatural powers. Their abilities are largely based on what they can do in real life.
And maybe the machine they are connected to makes their dreams more realistic, as intended by the military for combat simulation?

Well, as I've said before in the other thread, the way I look at it is this:
In a normal lucid dream, we live by our own rules, so yes, we can turn into awesome things and just gun everybody down. But when you are in other people's dreams, you are living by partly your own rules, and partly their rules, so it isn't as easy/possible to do all that shit. So unexpected things can happen, and you loose the ability to do certain things at certain times.
That's they way I see it anyways.

Actually, now I think I understand why they didn't do a lot of that fancy stuff (like flying, transforming, etc) to make it easier. Maybe they didn't want to draw too much attention to themselves. Towards the beginning of the movie they explain that the more they change the dream, the more people want to kill them... So maybe they were trying to keep as much attention off them as possible.. but that's just my guess.
