Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater

    A'hoy hoy,

I just thought I'd note that I have recently picked up this game and I like it. It is worth buying, especially if you are a MGS fan. If not... I suggest picking up MGS2 first.. or MGS for the PSX (damn acronyms).

Before I rant on about the game, I'm curious how many people have actually played it. I will not that the game truly reminds me of James Bond and .... I don't like that. But hey.. I'm also a Bond fan.

    ~

MGS 2 is good gameplay-wise, but the story is absolute crap

I think I heard some people say that they think the MSG2 storyline was good in a sophisticated kind of way.

But no I haven't played MSG3. Mainly because I don't have money and too many other good games are out right now. Heard it was awesome though. Someone I know is crazy about MGS in general and has already beaten it so pick up about the game from him.

I bought it, Mikey, I bought it!!! But I wasn't very happy on the week I bought it, unfortunately. Still, we shoulda made a bonanza about it...I'm a freak for MGS.

I get frustrated with the stealth. I find it easier to kill all guards. I know it's wrong, it goes against my elegant intent in games.

Storyline for MGS1 was very much excellent, but I prefer the gameplay of Splinter Cell (regardless of SC's lack of original story...but I blame this on Clancy's lack of brain power ).

Tom Clancy's got tons of brain power...Splinter Cell just isn't his best work. But it is fun as hell to play I prefer Hunt for Red October for a story line. Anyway, I don't have a PS or PS2, so I don't have any of the MG games yet. However, when PSP is released early next year, they're releasing a strategy game called Metal Gear Acid. It's turn-based, but the graphics are AMAZING for a handheld. I can't wait! Also, just think, FFVII Advent Children (Think that's the title, also it's got screen shots that have better graphics than PS2...It's SO freakin' cool!), Armored Core (a mech game, also really good graphics) and tons of other games! Woohoo!

I don't really like Splinter Cell... mainly because the fan following only playing for the gameplay.. I mean gameplays' fun but it has to be backed up by a story... But on the other hand, I love the Metal Gear Solid series, if that isn't already obvious But I'm not gonna go into huge details about why and everything, because people may call me too obsessed. (which I am). But i'll end by responding to O'nus---- The game somewhat reminded me of Bond, probably due to EVA, and disguises, but If you look at it in fragments it doesn't seem to follow the Bond Guidlines directly. Take the ending of the game for example, I'm not gonna ruin it, but I haven't seen a Bond ending like that...

Splinter Cell was great. I liked the funky music it would play, and the way that on my computer, the sound card would bork up occasionaly and either make everything sound really fast, or really slow. And the way you can make people go to sleep by bonking them on the head.

So, seeing as it's the last in the series, does it have a fitting ending?

Yeah. It explains a lot of the things left untold in MGS2 and happens to have a very powerful ending scene. It basically wraps the Metal Gear Saga together.

you know it!.... word on the street says some other guy is directing the next Metal Gear game (not MG:AC!D) It may not have the words 'metal' 'gear' and 'solid' in the title though

The only thing that annoys me is Snake's voice

Snake's voice is awesome! are you kidding me! its rugged and stuff... I will admit, it sounds a little fake though... but I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinion, even if they are communists

Yeah, MGS3 was the ed of the 'Solid' sub-series. Maybe it'll move on to new character now.

Also, I know it's unlikely, but is ther any mention of Raiden in this one?

Yes, one of the masks you can put on is the face of Raiden. It is useful in one part of the game.

He's also one of Volgin's Generals.... or.. partner.

It's not the Raiden, but they used the same character body, face, etc. Once you get to Grozni Grad and infiltrate it, you'll know what I'm talking about.

I just got this game, so far I'm loving it. My memory card isn't working for some reason, so I'll be needing a new one to save it, but I just the little jokes in this. 'Major Tom', genius. Seeing as I can't save I'm having a go at the monkey mini-game, it's so pointless, I love it.
