National Treasure was a pretty fun movie, and I'd recommend it (regardless of what Ebert & Roeper had to say). Sure, there was some weak dialogue interchange at times, and more than one hard-to-believe coincidence (i.e. weak connecting lines in plot), and lack of character development, but it's still a pretty good movie. It only takes place in about two days, and it's rather fast paced and sort of flies by.

I saw it with my Dad a couple of days after it first came out...we both really liked it. It was very exciting. My Mom had said that it was based on real speculation, as in, a bunch of people think that there really is some sort of map or code on the back of the real DOI.

( movie joke ^^ )
LOL, I was laughing so hard all throughout that movie.
i heard the only probable truth of the story was the existence of the treasure itself, and that a stone bearing details of its location is buried on an island on the east coast of Canada; from what i recall, someone in Great Britain deciphered some code on stones in a castle that tells of the stone's existence. apparently many treasure hunters have scoured about that island trying to find it, w/o any luck.Originally posted by Rakkantekimusouka

That movie was a rip off on the Da Vinci Code. Although I liked both of them.

It had it's moments, but overall was pretty terrible. Possibly Nick Cage's worst performance ever, he must've owed a favor to Bruckheimer or something.
The concept definitely had potential but was poorly executed.

Yeah, and in the movie, they say, "look, the eye and the unfinished pyramid" -- it's got something to with the freemasons. That's what Nick Cage's character was descended from. That's why he was in on it all, his father too. His whole family line had been trying to find the "National Treasure" apparently, but with no luck until Cage steps into the picture.

Mainstream movies like National Treasure are garbage. Go and watch movies like Closer, Million Dollar Baby, The Aviator, Sideways, Hotel Rwanda, Ray and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Those should restore your faith in motion pictures.

-I'd have to agree with BradyBaker.. it had a cool idea behind it.. and there were some funny moments.. but it was pretty crappy all in all.
And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
