For some reason, that movie scared the crap out of me. Maybe due to the fact that it was based on a true story. But it was even scarier than the original Exorcist movie, which most people will say is the scariest movie ever made.

Sleepless in Seatle ?? Brr, gave me the willies.

I don't go in for the blood and guts type of stuff, I prefer the psychological thrillers.

Devil's Advocate was pretty creepy...

I've seen it and I admit it was pretty scary. Pretty good movie too

I'd say "The Others", but that was probably because it was about midnight and I was home alone. I actually couldn't watch it til the end .

personally i think that The Exorcist is hugely overated...

i'm gonna say the original texas chainsaw massacre, mainly because when you finish watching it you remember the things that never happened, such as a girl being impaled on a spike and a boy in a wheelchair being torn apart by a chainsaw, you never actually see any of those things happen, but they are done in a way that you focus on the violence and expect there to be blood so much that your mind creates that part of the film for you... remember this, even though it is known to be one of the most gory and brutal films in history, there is less than half a bucket of blood in the whole film and less than 2 minutes of brutality...

also carrie was pretty scary, especially the hand at the end, i mean you knew that it was coming but when it did it still made you jump....those are the signs of a truely AMAZING horror film...

nevertheless, my favourite has always been and will always be Evil Dead....i know that this post is not asking for favorites, but you cant have horror without Evil Dead...i mean come on... its a cult classic..

Yup this is it. I would probably ad the original Omen and the original Amityville Horror.

ok.. don't laugh but I found Scream to be the scariest movie I've ever seen. I was only 8 when I saw it and the first 5 minutes scared me shitless. It was only the Tv edit too! I remember I was so scared that I was in a cold sweat the whole night and couldn't fall asleep. I even remember that the phone rang and that was the icing on the cake. I was a reck the next day. Though it did happen when I was kid. I've never seen a movie that scared me like that since then. Come to think about it, the scary movies I've seen I don't find scary. I can't say I found the Grudge scary just because I didn't get it, like the whole history of the house. At the ending I wasn't saying "shit that was scary" more like "WTF." The ring I loved. That movie I didn't even find it scary it was more of a drama film

I would say Hellraiser 5 - Inferno is the movie I consider to be the most scary.

I also think the Terror on Elm Street movies are pretty scary, and Evil Dead 1 & 2 and the Excorsist movies.

First scary movie I saw was Fatal Attraction at about age 9, haha, so I've been pretty mellow towards scary movies since. I don't necessarily have a 'most scary movie'.

The Texas chainsaw massacre was pretty weird the first time i saw it but horror movies are not scary to me. I heard fire in the sky was extremely scary but i havn't seen it.

Nightmare on elm street used to come on TV alot when i was around 10-ish, prolly younger.
I would turn the TV on TBS at like 2 in the morning (always a late nighter untill recentily) and it would be on.
Iv seen like all the movies mentioned except for the older ones (origional omen) and Freddy really freaks me out.
-I was the grudge haloween night, then i had to go home alone for like 3 hours. (My dads got a house in the woods) SO the movie wasnt that bad but afterwards was horrible :-/

When I was a little kid it would be IT. Lucky I didn't see The Exorcist made in 1973 as a kid. Now probably The Ring and coming in second, The Exorcism of Emily Rose. Scary movies are cool, when I watch old scary movies now though, they are more funny than scary with there graphics, fake looking masks and characters that make the worst decisions possible.

scary means different things
anyone can make a jumpy or gorey movie

at the end of the day
it's just someone in a mask, or a lot of make-up
the real scarers are few and far between

Scary is defined by being scared. So just think back, which film frightened you the most?

For me i think "psychological" and "jumpy" are the most scary. Blood i don't find scary at all.

At the time it came out (I was eleven) Candyman scared the holy shit out of me.

Other than that, dunno. I'll have to think on it, some more.

I was really young when I watched this but I would say 6th Sense, the parts with the people that were hung creeped me out.

I dont watch that many horror flicks because they play on my mind too much and ive got a terribly good imagination. But i would have to say ´Signs´ please dont laugh.

I think this scared me the most because it just felt so realistic. The family in the movie reminded me a lot of my own, and ive always believed in aliens and the thought of them being horribly evil gave me the willies. Just that scene of the kids party when they´re filming and its in the back yard. Its just so believable!!

And war of the worlds. I hate Tom Cruise but that movie is awesome. The sound effects are the jem i think.
