Word games
Well, no this is not that sort of word game. Does anyone know where I can play the old games where they basically just tell you a story and you decide what to do next. Anyone?

Not sure of anything online, but there's a whole genre of books called "gamebooks" where you just choose what happens next and flip to a certain page. I'm sure you could find some in your library
As a child, I used to read "Choose Your Own Adventure", but I have a feeling that if I were to look back, those books would be very childish.

Ya mean computer games?
Try "The Hitch Hikers Guide To The Galaxy". It was released at the time these things were popular, but it's now been re-released as an online game. Possibly Flash or Java is required. If you look it up there'll be some sort of explanation about this type of game which will give you some good phrases to put into Google.
There is also a game in the Emacs text editor, "adventure" (I think) which would qualify as an easter egg if it was actually hidden or Emacs didn't have so many other odd features. It's quite involved if rather geeky. There are a couple of phrases which occasionally leak out into RL, including "you are in a maze of twisty passages, all alike", and "It is very dark. If you continue you are likely to be eaten by a grue."
