Does Sarah Palin Draw you to Mccain, or away.

I think you have a bad choice here.

      Heres why:

Sarah Palin graduated from a community college in Idaho with a degree in communications-journalism. She worked briefly as a sports reporter for local television before becoming mayor of a town with a population of at the time under 5000. After leaving the town with a debt of $20 million, she became governor of Alaska, the state with the second-smallest population, for just 2 years before being announced as John McCain's running mate.

Barack Obama graduated from Columbia University with a degree in political science. After four years in New York City working at the Business International Corporation and the New York Public Interest Research Group, he moved to Chicago to work as a community organizer for three years as director of the Developing Communities Project. He then entered Harvard Law School where he became the first black president of the Law Review. Obama graduated magna cum laude three years later. He went on to teach constitutional law at the University of Chicago for twelve years, while also working at a law firm. In 1996 he was elected to the Illinois Senate, and later was nominated for US Senate. He was sworn in as senator in 2005, and announced his candidacy for president in early 2007. He has written 2 books.

Yeah, she seems to contradict herself in things she does. She also likes posing for fashion magazines. I'd think I'd be more worried about my political career than showing off some boots made out of bunny rabbits to Vogue.

      Away.

The only reason(s) he picked her is because of Obama's powerhouse pick of Joe Biden. McCain knew he had to do something to shake things up a bit, so he picked a woman to sway some of the Hillary supporters that feel let down that Obama didn't pick her as a running mate. He also contradicted his own claims against Obama's inexperience, by picking someone even more inexperienced than Obama to be VP. With McCain being 70+, and being no stranger to health problems, that was definitely not an "America's Best Interest" decision.

He does benefit from her having a background of standing up for corruption, though, and I hear she's in the NRA, whereas McCain (if I'm getting my facts straight) has been somewhat tough on gun control.

I just feel that his pick was more to tip the scales in a popularity contest than for the (alleged) "good of the people."

I agree with you that it was a very obvious political move in terms of trying to sway the Hillary voters to his side. However, Hillary had 18,000,000 votes where as Biden had only 9,000. The number of Hillary supporters is amazing. If McCain can gain some of them then he may get the upper hand. Obama and McCain are at a dead heat. Obama should have picked someone (a.k.a. Hillary) other than Biden for obvious reasons of sheer number of people who voted for them. McCain definitely made a smart move. Whether anybody likes him or not, it was IMHO a great strategic decision.

Either way, this will be an historic election. Either we will have a black president or a woman vice president. It is very exciting times for a lot of people. Unfortunately, I think that a lot of people will not vote for Obama just because he's black (and vice versa) and they will vote fore McCain just because he has a woman VP (and vice versa). It should be about policy and experience not color or sex.

As far as what I've read I don't like her policies, well I don't really like any conservative politicians, I don't know very much about politics, and don't care to try and learn much, but I know that when I read a crossed the fact that she didn't support gay marriages, it was enough to inform me that she doesn't respect equal human rights enough, this issue is no different to me as if the person was of a different race or color, it is just the time period which it is in. I don't like people controlling other peoples lives and saying what is "best" for them.

She opposes gay marriage — constitutionally banned in Alaska before her time — but exercised a veto that essentially granted benefits to gay state employees and their partners.

Only the state workers and their partners. That's fucked up if you ask me.

Hah, yeah that does seem to me like she thinks of gay marriages as some kind of incentive, you have to think, what if she did the same with drugs .

I don't imagine she'll be an issue for very long, if at all. What with all this talk now that her 5th child is actually her grand-child, and she's covering up that her precious Catholic school 16yr old daughter had a child so young.

But yeh I heard them say on the radio that this completely nullifies McCain's attempts to discredit Obama as 'inexperienced'... sounds like a pretty dumb move to me.

Obama would definitely win in Britain, he's actually pretty famous and everybody seems to think he's a nice guy. McCain comes across as the sort of person you really wouldn't want in control of America's nukes, just the typical agressive and idiotic yank stereotype.

I really hope Obama gets in, but then America is a pretty fucked up place... they voted for Bush twice, why not three times?

Also Obama could well be asassinated pretty quick.

I've heard Biden has more experience than McCain.

Biden is supposed to be really good with foreign and defense policies also.

I think if Hilary supporters voted for MCcain just because Palin is his running mate...that they're dimwitted and naive. It's pretty clear that this is a political "game" and in order for MCcain to tap into those floating 18 million voters...he needed a woman. This strategy became apparent when Palin said over the microphone that she plans to continue putting cracks in the ceiling that Hilary left as a woman.

That's right. Not to mention Mr. Bean is smart enough to give his teddy bear a straw to breathe through before he puts him in the washing machine. Imagine how much better our world would be if all politics were that well thought out.

It's really a win win situation. If he gets in without trouble, and delivers on all his promises, the US can become a respected world player again (and hopefully fix its fiscal problems in the same sweep).

If he's assassinated, that will create a civil outcry so loud it will like Krakatoa going off. An American president hasn't been successfully assassinated since Bobby Kennedy. That kind of event brings a nation together more than divides it.

And Bidens alright. He'd do well if he had to step into the big shoes.

(but lets all hope it doesn't come to that, those two girls need their father).

And we need our president. Him to be more precise. That's a win-lose if you ask me.
