Thread: Google Earth Unknowns

I think I figured out your darned broken links. Never mind. I'll look today.

Anything that is classified or no-fly, keyhole had to agree to obliterate in their data. Standard "National Security" stuff.

Are the links above not working??? If they don't show, and it isn't just your browser, let me know so I can repost them.

Oh, I know the reasons why some of the stuff is blurred on GoogleEarth, I wasn't being critical of that. It just seems that on the shot of the Star of David, that there is more in the center of the pic than is showed.

I'll move to another machine and check (the one with the really good video cards ((2x 7800 GT in SLI) that will be most useful)

On this machines, I have to copy-paste the links into a new browser instance to get 'em to work.

I think the key here will be on the zoom in/out and see what we're actually look at, scale and location.


[edit] I can't click on them in any browser on 4 machines. I can cut-paste them. The funny thing is that they appear to be correctly formed in the status bar...

The cross hair and star of david are at the Yucca Flat in Nevada

You can see it looks like some kind of road way. Move to the northwest just a bit of it and you can see what looks like a train coming down the tracks headed straight for the "cross hairs". You can also see several vehicles on the roadways it looks like and buildings or something. Whatever it is, there appears to be a good amount of human activity in the immediate area.

Another google search shows that these odd shapes are air targets for the Nellis Weapons and Bombing Range.

Edit, see how the triangle has a #3 in the top of it? That is target #3.

The star of david thing is supposed to be a target simulation of Soviet missile sites. They would protect them with SA-2 rockets laid out in a similar configuration, or so I've read.

Is cool none the less. But I hope that train is not a real train running through the middle of a bombing range

I seem to be having a problem establishing a connection to kh.google at the moment.

But tat makes sense. Also suggests why the middle is obliterated.
