Yes, they are famous in Egypt and are known of in South America...but now Japan! Has anyone heard about these pyramids? I saw a documentary on NGC, and am now really into researching it. I believe this is a breakthrough in regards to the history of the world and calls for further research of these underwater pyramids, as well as an entire excavation of why pyramids can be found all over the world!
Here are some pictures, since I know that's what everyone will want to see, and you are all capable of a google, which this subject requires!

The scientific community hasn't accepted these pyramids as being man made. Why? Because some asshole they sent over from America (or maybe britain, either way, an ass!) to investigate when they were first discovered says that they are natural and have been carved out by water!!! HAHAHA!! What a joke! Especially if you can get your hands on the documentary, I know NGC will send out any one they aired that you request via the website. Ever other person who has dove there has concluded that they are definately made by man, except for the only person that can make a difference in funding for research. If you see the documentary there are actually faces with head dresses carved into the sides of two of it as well as a large turtle somewhere else, and what looks like a stage with an altar on it. I mean there is just no way this thing was carved out by water!!!Originally posted by Seeker

Aliens is a possible theory! There is also the question of why is it underwater? A theory that I think could hold water (no pun intended) is the great flood story that appears throughout every culture and region of the world, this is most famous from Noah's Ark and the 'lost city' of Atlantis. The people that lived on the island that build the pyramids could have been some advanced civilization wiped out by the great flood, much like the atlantians.Originally posted by TheTruth

I think you have something going on the flood theory, however I think before any true connections between the pyramids and that event can be made first tests must be done to see how old these pyramids are (sorry havent read the article yet dont know how old they are) and look back to whatever date in ancient times that the flood story within the culture actually happened, if they happened during relatively the same time period then I think it is suitable evidence that that is true. And btw them saying that it might not be man made is total bull, it is to intricate of a design for it to be formed by water, and to well crafted also.

They haven't gotten a precise dating on these pyramids yet because no one is taking them seriously, as far as I know there have been no samples taken for carbon dating. Actually, with the flood theory, I believe that the flood was a mass flood which affected a majority of the earth, I think each flood story in every culture are all reffering to the same event. Especially since alot of the stories say so. There is no way of knowing when this flooding could have taken place since it predates written history.Originally posted by TheCrimsonKing

i mean, there are 'steps' if you like...
Maybe it's the relics of some lost civilisation...
'all of the moments that already passed/
try to go back and make them last.'
thats cool mindsi. yeah like a lost civilization. i wonder if they did carbon dating on the stones?
if a massive catastrophy happened in an extremely technically advanced egypt, what would be left? stone....

I've often found it fascinating that various cultures have such similar great flood stories, and I also believe as themindsi does - it's the same flood, passed down in stories.

I am reading a book right now that has a theory about how these pyramids were made without the help of ET's. The ancient Civilzation of Summeria is said to have been far beyond anyone elses technologies of the times, they were master builders, and it is also suggested that there building techniques and religion is how the Free Masons came to be.
It is believed that they helped build such things as the great pyramids in Egypt, the Temple of David, and the Sphinx. They were master engineers, and they had a supposed massive flood that whiped out the whole of their ppl except for a few whom were off the island at the time. Perhaps they also brought this flood story to many of the cultures that they then coencided with after the flood.

By any chance is it called the flower of life, or something like that?

My tired and confused mind first read this post title as 'Japanese underwear pyramids' (which would actually surprise me far less than underwater pyramids), very interesting anyway.
