Did he haymaker the girl or a light punch in the arm? or a spin kick to the temple?

I understand what the person was trying to say though. Is it sexist? No I don't think so, it has to with societies way of thinking "hey it's not right to hit a girl".

I use to have a girlfriend when I was younger (16, iirc), if we were kind of rough-housing it a bit. She would instantly go for the killshot (knee to the kids) even though she knew we were just playing around.
Apparently she thought it acceptable to knee a guy in the kids, with no questions asked. That relationship did not last long after that incident. I didn't suplex her or anything, but when a female goes for the kids something must be done so it does not repeat itself. I just yelled at her, but i was angry enough that if i didn't have the self control she would've been dumped on her head with a quickness.

Moral: Do NOT hit a man where he pee's, it's not cool.

Now if we're talking about a confrontation scenerio, say:
You just got into a fight with another man/guy and owned him severly. If that guys girl friend is present, you better believe she's gonna jump in your face yelling, maybe even punching. Now I'm no woman beater or anything like that. But females should not just jump into someone's face, just because they have a mis-conception that a man will NEVER hit them.

Many school yard fights have I seen in which a girlfriend jumps at the victor shouting, yelling, hitting... basicly doing more stuff deserving of a beating then what the original fight was over... if there's no one there smart enough to pull her away from the guy...there's a decent chance she'll be on her back in a few seconds mostly because the guy was keyed up on adrenaline & didn't feel like weighing the moral values of society.

I don't know where I really stand on this issue. There's a saying common place where I grew up "Don't put yourself into a man's position, without being ready to take a man's consequences" I agree/disagree with that saying. It's good for a female to know the bounderies of a confrontation (just as it is for a man) and in some cases a man can't be totally accountable for his actions. But you just don't hit women.

I've seen many women deserving of a good beating, but just not a beating by a man.

Depends what kind of a fight it'd be. Say I'm in Britain, and a group of 5 "Chavs" (Who are girls) come up to me and try to mug me, FUCK being "chivalrous." I would break knees, stab eyes, and choke my way through it to not end up a bloody, curb-stomped mess over the ground.

But if it isn't that extreme, I'd try not to.

I agree--it depends on the situation. The moray of our society is that men shouldn't hit women. Period. And that's the whole reason that female to male abuse goes on so often and goes unreported. Men are kind of viewed as "wusses" if they go to the police because they were beat regularly by a woman, but a woman is viewed as "brave" if she goes to the police when she was abused by a man.

Of course, IMO, this double standard only cancels out the other double standard where men who sleep with a ton of women are studs/players and women who sleep with a ton of men are sluts. :::shrugs:::

I guess the "appropriate" thing in the aforementioned situation would be:

If she just punched him in the arm jokingly, he should do nothing.
If she tapped him in his junk, it's okay to shove her away, angrily.
If she was beating the crap out of him, he should "block" her unless she's winning, then by all means, kick the crap out of her as best you can.

This isn't fair at all. But then again, that's life.

It shouldn't matter. To be the aggressor is to grant your target a licence to preserve his/her own safety at the expense of your own. Gender should not be an issue.

In the event that it was a friendly situation as described, and it was apparent to the onlookers that it was in fact just that, then people just need to relax and stop being idiots. Gender should not be an issue.

there's nothing, in my opinion, more fun than playing shot for shot with a female.

I think no-one should hit anyone. If they do, I really don't see if it matters or it is a girl or not. If a big guy beats up a small, puny, defenseless nerd, that is pretty okay. If it is a women, even if the woman is stronger then the nerd, the big guy is worse then a serial-killer.

I think it sort of is sexism, or just plain decadence. It is just silly.

Obviously you've never been hit in the nuts (your avatar gave a clue as well).. It's 'ok' to punch her in the jaw, I just didn't do it and there's no such thing as a tap in the junk...it ALL results in pain.

Your 'appropriate' conclusion is pretty cut and dry. There's no absouletes especially when it come to violence.
Even though I agree somewhat with your examples. If a girl is coming at me punching, I'd try to clinch her and half-way throw her to the ground, back up..then warn her to stop, after that...it's knockout time.

I'd like to think that I have good self control, but there's nothing more annoying than a girl who's yelling in someone's face. In those cases (even if spectating) I have no quarells with what a man chooses to do, I will never get myself involved in a confrontation in order to uphold "chivalry".

I think a lot of sexism comes from the fact that women are very adept at using language as a form of violence against men. While words might not physically maim, abuse is abuse, and many men only know how to retaliate through violence. The only difference is that physical retaliation leaves a bruise.

Keep in mind that I said very first thing, "it depends on the situation". Also, I said, "I guess the appropriate thing..." and ended with, "This isn't fair at all. But then again, that's life." And I checked with my husband before I typed about the tap in the nuts. He agreed. And I said "tap", not "hit".

If a girl was repeatadily hitting me in the facial area i would punch her in the face back untill she stopped lol.

I treat everyone equally if somones trying to "kick my ass" im not going to let them hit me just because they are female.

I agree. I've had some women just plain attack me physically. I was singing karaoke at a bar once and some Woman was cheering. So i went up to her afterwards to thank her for cheering me on. she got very rude, so i was a bit flustered and maybe said something, i forget what it was. and then she starts hitting me and pushing me over chairs and stuff. And I was asked to leave the bar!

I think its very simple. No one has the right to hit another person, and if they do you are fully allowed to defend yourself. Its as simple as that. Doesn't matter if their male or female if they attack you, you should defend yourself.

I guess I'm the same as everyone here in that I think it depends on the situation.

I do remember once in class in form 2 (I think that's what, 9th grade?) the girl in front of me was bitching and moaning, so I told her to shut the fuck up, and to move her fucking chair out my fucking way please. She pushed my desk really hard at me and it hit my shins, hard enough to detach my eyeballs so that they were dangling out of my sockets, and hard enough that it took me a few seconds to realise that the strange wailing noise was coming from my mouth. I raised my hand to backhandedly bitch slap the motherfucker, and the math teacher kakked me out no-end and was disappointed in me. I didn't hit her, but I think I should have!

Also, I play one-for-one with my girlfriend quite often, and it normally ends with her showing me her (.)(.) in order to distract me coz she hit me too hard and doesn't want to play anymore

I think the idea is, a real man would take a beating, because in the end, most girls dont know how to harness, or just plain dont have the same strength as a lot of men. If ya can't overlook a few punches from the average girl, you should probably reconsider your pain thresh-hold and wear appropriately padded 'Im a pansy!'-armour! If they're stronger than most, and they're attacking you properly, I guess you should really be allowed to defend yourself, but I still dont think that defending yourself from the average girl is really necessary, unless feminine aggression changes a lot in society as a whole!

(btw about the chav girls; are you sure they really count as 'girls'? )

Well before you try to decide when its ok to hit someone and when its not, you really need to get into the mindset that fighting is stupid and should be avoiding at all costs. Nearly all fights are avoidable and so this is really a nonissue.

Little kids get into fights all the time but as an adult you shouldn't be getting into them. If I ever get into a fight I am going to assume the person is trying to kill me, and in that moment it will not matter if their male or female.

If your girlfriend kicks you, even when they are not trying to be mean. You just tell her to screw off and you walk away and never speak to her again.

Anyway, if your life isn't in danger just walk away and never deal with that person again. Hitting them isn't going to do anything.

in combat situations running away is a perfectly viable option. If a male or female is assaulting me in some way shape or form I see no shame in either walking or if pursued running away. some may call it cowardice, I call it smart.

lol of course I'm joking, but it was incredibly painful, and when I look back on that moment I think my eyeballs really should have been popping out, I mean why cloud a good story with facts, you know?

I think the adage is "never let the truth get in the way of a good story."

Back to the topic, I'm just echoing sentiments that any and all actions nessicary to protect one's safety are valid, no matter the sex of the agressor.

My pet peeve is the girls who think they can get away with anything and do whatever they want just becuase they are attractive. if one of those got in my face and started attacking me, though i hate them i would not hit back, i would attempt to restrain them, yes, but not hurt them.
